Entre los años 2010 y 2017 hubo un ascenso en la conformación política de las FARCEP como grupo armado subalterno en el campo estratégico de la democracia. Para estudiarlo, los autores de esta obra toman en consideración los aportes fundamentales de Antonio Gramsci sobre coyuntura estratégica, grupo subalterno, hegemonía, sentido común y lenguaje para considerar qué tipo de sujeto político alternativo se estaba desplegando en la antigua insurgencia y cuáles podían ser las nuevas características de representación y participación políticas al operar el lenguaje político subalterno en el tránsito hacia la paz negociada. El aporte fundamental de la presente investigación es, justamente, el acercamiento politológico al lenguaje político subalterno en la antigua guerrilla de las FARCEP.
