This volume constitutes the proceedings of the first conference on the specific subject of radiative corrections (quantum effects) to physical processes within the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). While there have been many conferences covering general aspects of supersymmetry, this one brought together leading experts on phenomenological aspects of SUSY and focused on the search for indirect effects of supersymmetric particles. Participants discussed the status and perspectives of the MSSM from the viewpoint of present and future high precision experiments at LEP, Tevatron, LHC and at a future NLC.
This book collects the results presented at the 158th European Study Group with Industry, which took place at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica in Barcelona in January 2020. The European Study Groups with Industry are a well-recognised forum where mathematicians work with industrial representatives on issues of current interest to companies. At this particular meeting, the problems were chosen to provide a wide variety of subject areas and to appeal to local academics. In this work, the research carried out and the solutions presented to the companies are detailed. In particular, the book focuses on: estimating the difficulty level of mobile games; modelling the stability of human towers; fibre coating in the manufacture of clutch components; safe trajectories of robot arms. The book provides an excellent addition to the canon of Industrial Mathematics. It is addressed to researchers keen to apply mathematics to topical, real-world problems.
This volume contains revised versions of papers given at a conference at the Manoir de Brion, in Normandy. They deal with phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics, and cover a wide range of Romance languages, including many lesser-known varieties. The contributors to the volume are committed to the view that Romance Linguistics is not narrowly philological, but is rather General Linguistics practised with reference to particular data. The point has been made many times, but is worth reiterating, that Latin and the Romance languages offer an unrivalled wealth of synchronic and historical documentation, and provide both a stimulus and a test-bed for ideas about language structure, language...

Little attention has been paid to Merce Rodoreda (1908-1983) as a modernist writer. This study addresses the relationship of her production with Catalan, Spanish, and European modernism. Foregrounded is Rodoreda's negotiation of the overlapping subjects of gender, class, modes of representation, and national identities. In the first three chapters her pre-Civil War novels Soc una dona honrada?, Un dia de la vida d'un home, and Del que hom no pot fugir are read against key Catalan texts, particularly Eugeni d'Ors', to emphasize debates surrounding modernist aesthetics and models of Catalan national identity. The modernist preoccupation with high versus low literature is developed in Aloma, while El carrer de les Camelies reconfigures the flaneur vis-a-vis the female writer's positioning in the modernist enterprise. The modernist debt to realism and the revindication of early Catalan modernism in the 1970s are examined in Mirall trencat. Christine Arkinstall is a Senior Lecturer in Spanish at The University of Auckland.
