The Jonathan LeVine Gallery was officially launched in New York City in 2005. Since then, LeVine has brought his considerable talents to bear, focusing on work influenced by illustration, comic books, graffiti, street art and pop culture imagery. Widely revered as the 'artists' gallerist', Jonathan LeVine has nourished a much needed alternative viewpoint within the stilted New York art market. In the pages of DELUSIONAL, readers will discover the fascinating backstory that brought this punk kid from Trenton to the hallowed gallery walls of Chelsea.

E Pluribus Venom collects a large body of work produced by Shepard Fairey and presented at the Jonathan Levine Gallery during his massive exhibition in the summer of 2007. The title, which translates Out of many, poison is derived from E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one) an early motto adopted by the U.S. Government which appears on U.S. currency. The artists thesis is that many becoming one, or a loss of power and influence of the individual in favor of homogeny is a symptom of a society in decline. The book is comprised of artworks designed to question the symbols and methods of the American machine and American dream and also celebrate those who oppose blind nationalism and war. Some of Faireys works use currency motifs or a Norman Rockwell aesthetic to employ the graphic language of the subjects they critique. Other works use a blend of Art Nouveau, hippie, and revolutionary propaganda styles to celebrate subjects advocating peace.

Organ procurement is a world-wide concern. There exist insufficient donors, and thousands who could be saved are dying daily. One potential solution is "presumed consent," which stipulates that upon death, the deceased is presumed to have given consent to have his viable organs donated to a person in need. A provocative and relevant topic cloaked within an adventure, Presumed Consent leads investment advisor Jon Levine, physician Alyssa Martin, and FBI agent Matthew Johnson to become ensnared in a series of adventures which embroil them in the issue. The three travel first to a Chilean offshore island where a reclusive American-trained transplantologist operates, then to several dialysis cen...

From Mobility to Accessibility

In From Mobility to Accessibility, an expert team of researchers flips the tables on the standard models for evaluating regional transportation performance. Jonathan Levine, Joe Grengs, and Louis A. Merlin argue for an "accessibility shift" whereby transportation planning, and the transportation dimensions of land-use planning, would be based on people's ability to reach destinations, rather than on their ability to travel fast. Existing models for planning and evaluating transportation, which have taken vehicle speeds as the most important measure, would make sense if movement were the purpose of transportation. But it is the ability to reach destinations, not movement per se, that people s...

Researchers have responded to urban sprawl, congestion, and pollution by assessing alternatives such as smart growth, new urbanism, and transit-oriented development. Underlying this has been the presumption that, for these options to be given serious consideration as part of policy reform, science has to prove that they will reduce auto use and increase transit, walking, and other physical activity. Zoned Out forcefully argues that the debate about transportation and land-use planning in the United States has been distorted by a myth?the myth that urban sprawl is the result of a free market. According to this myth, low-density, auto-dependent development dominates U.S. metropolitan areas bec...
