“Neutrosophic Sets and Systems” has been created for publications on advanced studies in neutrosophy, neutrosophic set, neutrosophic logic, neutrosophic probability, neutrosophic statistics that started in 1995 and their applications in any field, such as the neutrosophic structures developed in algebra, geometry, topology, etc.
The Latin American Neutrosophic Science Association was created in 2018 as a result of the initiative of a group of university professors from Mexico and Ecuador. The Association has developed an intense work in the investigative context, expression of the capacity that neutrosophy has as a tool for understanding and transformation of reality in social benefit. Neutrosophic sets as a generalization fuzzy set (especially intuitionistic fuzzy sets), allows handling a greater number of situations that occur in reality and becomes a facilitator of the approach to the studied object without undermining its complex and multivariate essence. In this special edition, researchers from six Ecuadorian ...
In the Latin American region, public management systems are driven almost exclusively by a formal mechanism. This is a difficulty when implementing study methodologies that provide objective data for the analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness, relevance and sustainability of the policies established by the states governments. Given that the political-social contexts of each nation determine a series of subjective and imprecise factors, and that the main officials and social actors that rule the development of strategic plans regarding public services are inscribed within a certain reality for internal and external incidents; a neutrosophic analysis of the fuzzy, gray and / or undefined zones of the relations between the political system and the administrative system becomes evident. Neutrosophy, as a discipline that studies undefined areas between opposing ideas or sentences, offers a theoretical framework suitable for the analysis of the previously described problematic.
A review of the concepts and methods of futures research, and what they tell us about the possible futures of urgent social problems. The author is best known for his development of the Delphi forecasting procedure, of cross-impact analysis, and of many other predictive techniques now used by business and government. This collection of his key essays amounts to a history of the field, showing us key events in its conceptual and methodological development. The growth of decision oriented prediction out of operations research, its relation to systems analysis, the introduction of specific techniques such as Delphi and cross-impact analysis, technology assessment, and game theory are all discussed. A series of applications of futures research follows, providing fascinating and persuasive predictions on the future of computerization, space travel, biomedicine, urban change, population trends, military technology, education, international relations, and development. The author closes with a consideration of the future of futures research.
This volume represents the first attempt to systematically compare organised crime concepts, as well as historical and contemporary patterns and control policies in thirteen European countries. These include seven ‘old’ EU Member States, two ‘new’ members, a candidate country, and three non-EU countries. Based on a standardised research protocol, thirty-three experts from different legal and social disciplines provide insight through detailed country reports. On this basis, the editors compare organised crime patterns and policies in Europe and assess EU initiatives against organised crime.
This handbook explores organized crime, which it divides into two main concepts and types: the first is a set of stable organizations illegal per se or whose members systematically engage in crime, and the second is a set of serious criminal activities that are typically carried out for monetary gain.
Developing countries lose billions each year through bribery, misappropriation of funds, and other corrupt practices. Much of the proceeds of this corruption find 'safe haven' in the world's financial centers. These criminal flows are a drain on social services and economic development programs, contributing to the impoverishment of the world's poorest countries. Many developing countries have already sought to recover stolen assets. A number of successful high-profile cases with creative international cooperation has demonstrated that asset recovery is possible. However, it is highly complex, involving coordination and collaboration with domestic agencies and ministries in multiple jurisdic...
Organized crime in America today is not the tough hoodlums familiar to moviegoers and TV watchers. It is more sophisticated, with many college graduates, gifted with organizational genius, all belonging to twenty-four tightly knit "families," who have corrupted legitimate business and infiltrated some of the highest levels of local, state, and federal government. Their power reaches into Congress, into the executive and judicial branches, police agencies, and labor unions, and into such business enterprises as real estate, retail stores, restaurants, hotels, linen-supply houses, and garbage-collection routes. How does organized crime operate? How dangerous is it? What are the implications for...
Provides readers with an understanding of organized crime, including its definition and causes, how it is categorized under the law, models to explain its persistence, and the criminal justice response to organized crime, including investigation, prosecution, defense, and sentencing.
