Thyroid cancer is the most common malignant endocrine tumor and is the seventh most common cancer seen in throughout out the world. The incidence of thyroid cancer has been increasing more rapidly than any other cancer in many of the cancer registries from different parts of the world. Although the majority of thyroid cancers have an indolent biological behaviour, different histological types have a diverse clinical behaviour. Well-differentiated thyroid cancers have an excellent survival, whereas poorly differentiated and anaplastic thyroid cancers have a very poor outcome. This volume of Head and Neck Cancer Clinics addresses advances, controversies and state-of-the-art treatment recommendations of various types of thyroid cancers.
This volume brings together the work of experts from clinical and basic sciences specialties and addresses some of the controversial issues and advances in the management of oral cancer. Improving the outcome for the oral cancer patient will require dedicated work from many disciplines working together as multidisciplinary units. The book is meant for medical students, residents and consultants in various disciplines, including otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery and oncology.
Head and neck cancer (HNC) is a rapidly evolving field of medical science. Tremendous progress has been made over the past five decades in revealing the basic molecular biology involved in the disease process, developing and adopting more effective organ-preserving treatment protocols and refining surgical ablative and reconstructive approaches to facilitate functional restoration of patients without compromising survival. We now have a much clearer understanding of the disease, its management and the rehabilitation of patients. But there is still much to be done. This book aims to cover a range of exciting new findings in clinical sciences, basic sciences and allied specialties with an emph...
This work presents a clear approach for the reconstruction of head and neck cancer excision defects. Starting with a brief historical account of head and neck reconstruction, the principles of resection and reconstruction of head and neck cancer, the book then provides a detailed overview of head and neck reconstruction based on head and neck subsites; various reconstruction techniques; best approaches; and the challenges faced in reconstruction and how to overcome them. Lastly, it discusses future directions in head and neck reconstruction.
Written and edited by expert surgeons in collaboration with a world-renowned anatomist, this exquisitely illustrated reference consolidates surgical, anatomical and technical knowledge for the entire human body in a single volume. Part of the highly respected Gray’s ‘family,’ this new resource brings to life the applied anatomical knowledge that is critically important in the operating room, with a high level of detail to ensure safe and effective surgical practice. Gray’s Surgical Anatomy is unique in the field: effectively a textbook of regional anatomy, a dissection manual, and an atlas of operative procedures – making it an invaluable resource for surgeons and surgical trainees...
In recent times, there has been a tremendous increase in our knowledge and understanding of the molecular mechanisms, genetic and epigenetic interactions, and epidemiological and aetiopathogenic factors involved in the development, progression and metastatic spread of head and neck cancers (HNCs). Improvements in diagnostics and imaging techniques, advancements in various treatment modalities, and incorporation of quality-of-life and functional outcomes in HNCs have also significantly influenced the management and outcomes of the disease. This book brings together a broad, comprehensive and balanced view of current approaches to the multidisciplinary management and underlying biology of HNCs...
Papers presented at a seminar held on December 27-28, 1996 at Delhi University.
This book presents the selected peer-reviewed proceedings of the International Conference on Recent Trends and Innovations in Civil Engineering (ICRTICE 2019). The volume focuses on latest research and advances in the field of civil engineering and materials science such as design and development of new environmental materials, performance testing and verification of smart materials, performance analysis and simulation of steel structures, design and performance optimization of concrete structures, and building materials analysis. The book also covers studies in geotechnical engineering, hydraulic engineering, road and bridge engineering, building services design, engineering management, water resource engineering and renewable energy. The contents of this book will be useful for students, researchers and professionals working in civil engineering.
