Os desafios da substituição tributária: a incidência do ICMS sobre o vinho
O livro apresenta de forma simples - a despeito da complexidade do tema - aspectos conceituais e normativos da substituição tributária do ICMS, assunto que desperta muito interesse ultimamente. Afinal, por que as administrações tributárias têm adotado essa sistemática de tributação? Para responder a essa pergunta fez-se necessário apresentar as necessidades de financiamento das despesas públicas, as competências e as espécies tributárias no país, a fim de que o leitor compreenda aspectos essenciais do Federalismo brasileiro e os desafios dos estados para equilibrar suas receitas com as despesas. Sem a pretensão de exaurir o tema, apresenta-se como essa sistemática vem sendo adotada ao longo dos anos e, bem assim, o entendimento dos tribunais superiores sobre o assunto. Por fim, considerando o exponencial aumento do consumo e o simbolismo do produto, foi escolhido como caso de estudo a substituição tributária sobre as perações com vinho no estado do Rio de Janeiro.
Contribuição de melhoria: dúvidas, soluções, certezas
Quase todos os que se debruçam sobre a contribuição de melhoria não discordam em considerá-la a forma mais justa e democrática de tributação, muito embora pouco seja instituída e exigida. Tal paradoxo reclama reflexões, sobretudo considerando a constante (e cada vez mais grave) crise financeira de municípios e estados, para cuja solução os governantes poderiam (e deveriam) reunir esforços a fim de, realizando a justiça fiscal, onerar quem realmente tenha imóvel valorizado em razão de obra pública, mediante a dita contribuição. Daí subsiste a inquietante questão: por que a maioria absoluta dos entes políticos dela abre mão? O objetivo deste livro é buscar respostas para tão incômoda indagação.
Substituição Tributária
Em uma sociedade cada vez mais dinâmica e complexa, o Estado reclama a colaboração dos particulares para realizar as atividades de fiscalização, apuração e recolhimento dos tributos. Uma das técnicas mais difundidas dessa tendência de "privatização" da gestão dos tributos é a de eleger um terceiro para efetuar o pagamento do tributo, "em lugar" do contribuinte. Eis, a grosso modo, a substituição tributária. As dúvidas, entretanto, são inevitáveis: O legislador é livre para impor um regime de substituição tributária, escolhendo o substituto segundo a sua conveniência? Quais são os limites e controles ao uso da técnica?. São essas as questões fundamentais que conduzirão o autor ao longo de uma análise sobre a "estrutura e função" da substituição tributária, com o propósito de contribuir para o estudo jurídico de um dos temas que mais suscita controvérsias no âmbito administrativo e judicial.

Biographical Index of Artists in Canada
This index has been compiled as a quick reference guide to biographies of 9,052 professional and amateur artists active in Canada from the seventeenth century to the present. The artists represent 42 professional categories, from animation to topography. In addition to 8,261 Canadian artists, the Index has 391 British, 300 American, and 100 European artists, all of whom spent part of their careers in Canada. Each entry provides the artist's name, date and place of birth and death (or years the artist flourished, if birth and death dates are not available), the nationality (if not Canadian), type of artist (major medium media used), and sources in which biographical information may be found. Several hundred cross-references link the various names used by some artists during the course of their careers.

Wild Pedagogies
This book explores why the concept of wild pedagogy is an essential aspect of education in these times; a re-negotiated education that acknowledges the necessity of listening to voices in a more than human world, and (re)learning how to dwell in a place. As the geological epoch inexorably shifts to the Anthropocene, the authors argue that learning to live in and engage with the world is increasingly crucial in such times of uncertainty.
