This book presents the current results of research conducted in the area of clusters and cluster policy development in Central European countries with a focus on Poland, the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and Austria. It maps and compares the various conditions influencing cluster development in these selected countries from both the macro (policy, government) and the micro (cluster organisation) level, analyses good practices, and proposes a framework for cluster development in this region. Additionally, the depicted research provides a new perspective on the cluster issue, drawing attention to current trends such as the concept of inter-cluster cooperation and World-Class clusters. This book presents the results of research conducted on clusters and their internationalisation, highlighting the importance of international collaboration. It shows the possibilities and benefits of internationalisation activities of cluster organisations in increasing the competitiveness of affiliated members. In addition, it offers a detailed evaluation of this type of cluster activities in relation to a range of relevant variables. The research presented here constitutes a valuable contribution to debates concerning cluster internationalisation issues, drawing attention to current trends and presenting a comparison with foreign studies. A particular advantage of the book is that, by focusing on a specific region, namely the Czech Republic, and offering a profound analysis of cluster internationalisation, its findings and recommendations shed new light on internationalisation issues and can further enrich development of such activities among clusters and cluster policies support in other countries. The book will serve as a guide for practitioners, policy makers and academics, and offers insights into the internationalisation of clusters.
In the Basque region of Spain, food and eating are the center of everyday life and the focus of endless conversation. This award-winning, internationally acclaimed cookbook presents 130 recipes for casual, elegant fare from this food-centric region's increasingly popular cuisine. With an emphasis on high-quality fresh ingredients, simply prepared, the Basque style of cooking fits right in with today's back-to-basics focus on whole foods. For starters, there are plates full of pinchos, the Basque version of tapas, including Eggs Stuffed with Anchovies and Tuna, and Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Pinchos. Among main courses, there is a wealth of light and healthy fish and shellfish fare including Cod-Stuffed Piquillo Peppers with Biscayne Sauce and Red Snapper Guernica-Style, and rustic and hearty meat and chicken dishes such as Top Loin of Pork Cooked with Milk, Chicken Breasts with Garlic and Parsley, and Venison with Red Currant Sauce. Soups, stews, salads, and sides round out the feast.

This proceeding book of Nostradamus conference (http://nostradamus-conference.org) contains accepted papers presented at this event in 2012. Nostradamus conference was held in the one of the biggest and historic city of Ostrava (the Czech Republic, http://www.ostrava.cz/en), in September 2012. Conference topics are focused on classical as well as modern methods for prediction of dynamical systems with applications in science, engineering and economy. Topics are (but not limited to): prediction by classical and novel methods, predictive control, deterministic chaos and its control, complex systems, modelling and prediction of its dynamics and much more.

Machine learning techniques are increasingly being used to address problems in computational biology and bioinformatics. Novel machine learning computational techniques to analyze high throughput data in the form of sequences, gene and protein expressions, pathways, and images are becoming vital for understanding diseases and future drug discovery. Machine learning techniques such as Markov models, support vector machines, neural networks, and graphical models have been successful in analyzing life science data because of their capabilities in handling randomness and uncertainty of data noise and in generalization. Machine Learning in Bioinformatics compiles recent approaches in machine learning methods and their applications in addressing contemporary problems in bioinformatics approximating classification and prediction of disease, feature selection, dimensionality reduction, gene selection and classification of microarray data and many more.
This book focuses on methods and tools for intelligent data analysis, aimed at narrowing the increasing gap between data gathering and data comprehension, and emphasis will also be given to solving of problems which result from automated data collection, such as analysis of computer-based patient records, data warehousing tools, intelligent alarming, effective and efficient monitoring, and so on. This book aims to describe the different approaches of Intelligent Data Analysis from a practical point of view: solving common life problems with data analysis tools.
