Moors Dressed as Moors
In early modern Iberia, Moorish clothing was not merely a cultural remnant from the Islamic period, but an artefact that conditioned discourses of nobility and social preeminence. In Moors Dressed as Moors, Javier Irigoyen-Garcia draws on a wide range of sources: archival, legal, literary, and visual documents, as well as tailoring books, equestrian treatises, and festival books to reveal the currency of Moorish clothing in early modern Iberian society. Irigoyen-García’s insightful and nuanced analyses of Moorish clothing production and circulation shows that as well as being a sign of status and a marker of nobility, it also served to codify social tensions by deploying apparent Islamophobic discourses. Such luxurious value of clothing also sheds light on how sartorial legislation against the Moriscos was not only a form of cultural repression, but also a way to preclude their full integration into Iberian society. Moors Dressed as Moors challenges the traditional interpretations of the value of Moorish clothing in sixteenth and seventeenth-century Spain and how it articulated the relationships between Christians and Moriscos.

Familias, experiencias de cambio y movilidad social en España (siglos XVI-XIX)
Con este libro se pretende enriquecer la comprensión del cambio social en períodos de transición como la Edad Moderna y la crisis del Antiguo Régimen. Problemática que en buena parte de los textos aquí reunidos convierten el estudio de la movilidad social en su hilo conductor. Para ello, se ponen en práctica algunos de los recursos metodológicos propios de la nueva historia social que se han desarrollado a partir de la historia de la familia. Cuestiones como alianzas matrimoniales, estrategias hereditarias, genealogías sociales, trayectorias familiares e individuales, redes sociales y de patronazgo, ciclo de vida e itinerarios vitales o las formas de convivencia, entre otras, permiten adentrarnos en realidades que pueden considerarse exponentes de la intensidad del cambio social. Temas abordados desde las experiencias de familias, individuos o componentes de distintos grupos que evidencian, efectivamente, una sociedad dinámica pero también diferenciada, con ritmos y consecuencias muy desiguales.
Sobre historia moderna
Los trabajos reunidos en esta publicación proceden de las presentaciones que fueran realizadas en el XIV Coloquio Internacional de Historiografía Europea y XI Jornadas de Estudios sobre la Modernidad Clásica, que se realizara en la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, los días 23, 24, 25 y 26 de noviembre de 2021. Estas presentaciones profundizan las claves que puedan favorecer una mejor interpretación de la producción historiográfica sobre el período, se realizan revisiones conceptuales, se analiza el diseño de nuevas líneas de investigación al tiempo que se reflexiona sobre cuestiones teóricas y metodológicas de la disciplina histórica en ámbitos específicos. La presencia y la intervención de historiadores procedentes de universidades argentinas y extranjeras nos permiten realizar un intercambio en relación con los avances logrados en los últimos años en nuestro campo de investigación y la valoración de los logros y el excelente nivel de la historiografía modernista.

Various aspects of the biodiversity of the Yucatan Peninsula are analyzed in an integrative manner, including phenological, ecophysiological, ecological and conservation aspects of plants and animals and their relationships with humans in coastal and forest ecosystems.
