Hence, it gathers representative contributions of main Portuguese research groups and foreign collaborating ones. Nevertheless, the topic should be understood in a wide sense, being open to types of studies with significance on sustainable synthesis and applications in chemistry, materials and/or related sciences.
Comparative Education: Views from Latin America
Although in Latin America there are no educational programs specialized in comparative education, as there are in some European, Oriental and North American universities, there are scholars who cultivate this field. With the production of this book, the authors -most of them affiliated to member organizations of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies- are walking towards a Latin American network of researchers with an interest in establishing a dialogue with non-Spanish speaking colleagues from the rest of the world. Vaccines prevent 3 million of deaths every year and are a crucial to combat antimicrobial resistance. An optimal implementation of existing vaccines could help to avert up to 1.5 million deaths as well as substantial disabilities. Indeed, vulnerable populations (VPs), including pregnant women, newborns, preterm infants, elderly and patients affected by chronic diseases are frequently undervaccinated and/or at risk of reduced vaccine efficacy, presenting a major health and economic burden to society. Vaccine development programs mainly focus on healthy populations; therefore, vaccination strategies are often based on data arising from healthy subjects.
