Living in God's Providence: History of the Congregation of Divine Providence of San Antonio, Texas, 1943-2000

In 1943 the bell attached to a rope on both floors of a plain box-like convent in Houston, Texas, rang at 5 a.m. The nine Sisters of Divine Providence stationed at the grade school arose, reciting aloud the traditional prayer that began “Live, Jesus, in my heart! My God, I give you my heart. Nearly everyone who played a significant role in the Watergate saga has been scrutinized except one key participant: night watchman Frank Wills. On the morning of June 17, 1972, in Washington D.C, the twenty-four-year-old security guard was on duty at the Watergate Office Building when he detected a break-in. A high school dropout with only a few hours of formal guard training, Wills alerted the police who caught five burglars, ultimately igniting a national political scandal that ended with the resignation of President Richard Nixon. The only African American identified with the Watergate affair, Frank Wills enjoyed a brief moment in the limelight, but was unable to cope with his newfound fame, living the remainder of his life in obscurity and poverty. Through exhaustive research and numerous interviews, the story of America's most famous night watchman finally has been told.

HISTORICAL ROMANCE Mary Margaret Harwell never dreamed she would move to Little Rock, Arkansas, just as she never dreamed she would marry a Yankee. As her radically Republican husband, Thomas, enters the politics of reconstructing Arkansas after the Civil War, Maggie soon discovers that although the war is over, the bitterness of the loss has not diminished. As Tom and Maggie settle into their new life in Arkansas, she busies herself painting artwork for their cottage, reuniting with her father, and becoming acquainted with the residents of Little Rockor at least the ones who do not shun her because she is married to a northerner. But racial tensions escalate to new heights, and Maggie becomes the victim of a terrifying assault that leaves two men dead and shakes her to her core. As their journey eventually leads them from Arkansas to the nations capital, Maggie is faced with an agonizing decision when President Grant appoints her husband as governor of the Idaho Territory. In this continuing historical saga based on a true story, a politicians wife faces one challenge after the other in a world still reeling after the Civil War.
