From Toleration to Expulsion
On April 6, 1948, a significant portion of the population of the village of Ecsny in Somogy County, Hungary, was expelled from their homeland. This was the result of Protocol XIII of the Potsdam Declaration of 1945 calling for the orderly and humane transfer of German populations now living in Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary. The families involved were descendants of German settlers who began to arrive in what would become the village of Ecsny as early as 1754. Polish Immigrants and American Reform

Music Theory Through Improvisation

Debating Authority
Human leadership is a multifaceted topic in the Hebrew Bible. This holds true not only for the final form of the texts, but also for their literary history. A large range of distributions emerges from the successive sharpening or modification of different aspects of leadership. While some of them are combined to a complex figuration of leadership, others remain reserved for certain individuals. Church, Immigration & Pluralism
This book wrestles with the question of how the church can thrive in such a diverse urban environment as Berlin and contribute to the flourishing of a pluralistic society. The study includes embedded experience on the streets and crosses the disciplinary divides of Sociology & Theology. The main claim of the book is that the church is only able to thrive when it is willing to descend into the messy urban reality and encounter the stranger. However, the church can only do so by glimpsing God's glory in worship. Living pluralism emerges from the grassroots. The church can only become a gift to society paradoxically: By not setting itself at the center, but rather by gathering around the triune God and abandoning its desire for power and relevance, the church will unintentionally provide a fertile soil within which resilient pluralism will grow.
