Reversible Computation: Extending Horizons of Computing

This open access State-of-the-Art Survey presents the main recent scientific outcomes in the area of reversible computation, focusing on those that have emerged during COST Action IC1405 "Reversible Computation - Extending Horizons of Computing", a European research network that operated from May 2015 to April 2019. Reversible computation is a new paradigm that extends the traditional forwards-only mode of computation with the ability to execute in reverse, so that computation can run backwards as easily and naturally as forwards. It aims to deliver novel computing devices and software, and to enhance existing systems by equipping them with reversibility. There are many potential applications of reversible computation, including languages and software tools for reliable and recovery-oriented distributed systems and revolutionary reversible logic gates and circuits, but they can only be realized and have lasting effect if conceptual and firm theoretical foundations are established first.

These proceedings address a broad range of topic areas, including telecommunication, power systems, digital signal processing, robotics, control systems, renewable energy, power electronics, soft computing and more. Today’s world is based on vitally important technologies that combine e.g. electronics, cybernetics, computer science, telecommunication, and physics. However, since the advent of these technologies, we have been confronted with numerous technological challenges such as finding optimal solutions to various problems regarding controlling technologies, signal processing, power source design, robotics, etc. Readers will find papers on these and other topics, which share fresh ideas and provide state-of-the-art overviews. They will also benefit practitioners, who can easily apply the issues discussed here to solve real-life problems in their own work. Accordingly, the proceedings offer a valuable resource for all scientists and engineers pursuing research and applications in the above-mentioned fields.

From Distributed Quantum Computing to Quantum Internet Computing

From Distributed Quantum Computing to Quantum Internet Computing Understand the future of the internet with this accessible guide Quantum computing, which draws upon the principles of quantum mechanics to perform computing functions unrestricted by the binary language of ordinary computing, has developed with extraordinary speed in recent years. Progress in quantum computing and its related technological subfields, including quantum internet, has been rapid enough to suggest that we are living in a “new Quantum Age.” To understand the future of the internet, it’s now essential to understand the present and future of quantum computing and quantum internet computing. This book provides a...

Quantum Key Distribution Networks

This book focuses on practical implementation details, telecommunication techniques, security and technology challenges and approaches to implementing quantum technology in modern telecommunication systems. The authors use their extensive practical academic and industrial experience in network technologies and provide details from international projects in quantum cryptography in which they actively participate. Using a variety of examples, analogies, illustrations, tables, and features from practical quantum network realizations, the authors provide a unique view of quantum technology from an engineering telecommunication standpoint, allowing the reader to identify the advantages and challe...

Quanten-Zufallszahlengenerierung

This book explores how we create deep maps, delving into the development of methods and approaches that move beyond standard two-dimensional cartography. Deep mapping offers a more detailed exploration of the world we inhabit. Moving from concept to practice, this book addresses how we make deep maps. It explores what methods are available, what technologies and approaches are favorable when designing deep maps, and what lessons assist the practitioner during their construction. This book aims to create an open-ended way in which to understand complex problems through multiple perspectives, while providing a means to represent the physical properties of the real world and to respond to the n...
