Questo repertorio è il risultato del lavoro di un'équipe di trentacinque ricercatori che hanno esplorato più di quattrocento biblioteche pubbliche e private in Francia, Gran Bretagna, Italia, Paesi Bassi e Spagna. Sono state redatte 784 schede analitiche che forniscono delle informazioni generali (autore/i, frontespizio, editore, anno di edizione, ecc.) e specifiche sul paratesto e sul lemmario. Particolare cura è stata data alla descrizione della struttura delle voci. Numerosi indici e grafici facilitano la lettura dei dati. Questo repertorio permette di cogliere l'evoluzione della lessicografia bilingue italo-francese, e della relativa editoria, dal primo dizionario rinvenuto, apparso nel 1583, al 2000. Accanto ai più importanti lessicografi (Oudin, Veneroni, D'Alberti Di Villanova, Cormon e Manni, Ghiotti, Boch, ecc.), lo studioso scoprirà un gran numero di opere anonime e di autori di un solo dizionario. Sul fondo si scorge inoltre lo stato della società in un dato periodo storico e la fortuna alterna dei rapporti tra le due nazioni.
