El Desarrollo de Un Nuevo Destino Turístico
This article contributes to the investigation of a new tourist destination in Argentina. It has the purpose to establish the relationship between tourism and the local development from the emergence of initiatives and implementation of policies and strategies, as well as on the comparison with the productive traditional activities. It is based on the study of the case of Villa Elisa city, province of Entre Ríos, Argentina, using quantitative and qualitative technologies. The hypothesis affirms that the tourism is an activity that contributes to the local development of small cities. The period of study covers the origins of the tourism in the city in 1999 until 2009. It analyzes the socioeconomic impact relative to the employment, the business and investments, and it takes into account the contribution reflected in the benefits received by the resident population. The research is part of the subject area of local development centered on the figure of resort, and it is analyzed from the theory of the tourist system.
Tourism as a Factor for Local Productive Restructuring in the City of Ushuaia, Argentina (El Turismo Como Factor De Reconversión Productiva Local En La Ciudad De Ushuaia, República Argentina) (Spanish).
This unprecedented research project attempts to prove empirically that tourism is a factor for local productive restructuring. Research was based on the analysis of a case study of the city of Ushuaia, Argentina. Restructuring could become a new strategy to encourage the development of areas with tourist potential in order to improve quality of life among the community. In order to demonstrate the above, a comparative analysis of traditional development factors and tourism was employed. The analysis was based on a study of the following variables: income generation, business growth and increase in employment. Furthermore, the existence or implementation of any kind of tourist development strategy was analyzed and whether or not this brought about an increase in tourist supply and demand as well as the creation of new jobs.
