Fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) is defined as a medical imaging technique that uses a fluorescent dye or a near-infrared emitting light source to identify anatomic structures during surgical procedures. In 2020 alone, over 1200 academic articles were published on the topic of fluorescence-guidance surgery, a sign that this modality is making significant inroads into surgical practice. The use of near-infrared imaging and FGS is a rapidly growing modality, allowing surgeons to see more intraoperatively, enhance surgical precision, and improve surgical decision-making and patient outcomes. This manual provides a comprehensive, state-of-the art review of this field and will serve as a valuabl...

If you are an obstetrician whose patient has been admitted to ICU, you need to know how she is managed there. If you are an intensivist, you need to adapt to changes in physiology, alter techniques for the pregnant patient and keep the fetus from harm. This book addresses the challenges of managing critically ill obstetric patients by providing a truly multidisciplinary perspective. Almost every chapter is co-authored by both an intensivist/anesthesiologist and an obstetrician/maternal-fetal medicine expert to ensure that the clinical guidance reflects best practice in both specialties. Topics range from the purely medical to the organizational and the sociocultural, and each chapter is enhanced with color images, tables and algorithms. Written and edited by leading experts in anesthesiology, critical care medicine, maternal-fetal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology, this is an important resource for anyone who deals with critically ill pregnant or postpartum patients.
This second edition is essential reading for educators and other school community members who are navigating the increasingly complicated laws and legal rulings related to LGBTQ students, employees, and community members. It combines historical, contemporary, theoretical, and practical information to help educators address exclusionary practices in schools related to gender identity, sexuality, racism, sexism, and other forms of bias that shape student experiences. To enable educators to better understand their obligations to students in relation to policy, staff training, daily school climate, pedagogy, and curriculum, the author has extensively revised this popular text to include updated ...

Dendrimers belong to the class of nanoparticles and are promising tools in nanomedicine. This book provides a compact, up-to-date description of methods useful in studying biological properties of dendrimers. It focuses on biological properties of dendrimers and creates a practical guide that reviews the methods used to study these aspects of dendrimers. There is a need to describe a set of methods applied to characterise different types of dendrimers. Such standardisation will hopefully help to compare different families of dendrimers in the future. This book presents a methodological approach and provides useful tips how to study dendrimers.
The Cambridge History of Latin American Literature is by far the most comprehensive work of its kind ever written. Its three volumes cover the whole sweep of Latin American literature (including Brazilian) from pre-Colombian times to the present, and contain chapters on Latin American writing in the USA. Volume 3 is devoted partly to the history of Brazilian literature, from the earliest writing through the colonial period and the Portuguese-language traditions of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; and partly also to an extensive bibliographical section in which annotated reading lists relating to the chapters in all three volumes of The Cambridge History of Latin American Literature are presented. These bibliographies are a unique feature of the History, further enhancing its immense value as a reference work.
The first comprehensive study to explore the role of esoteric, occult, alchemical, shamanistic, mystical and magical traditions in the work of major Beat authors.
