Manual of Childhood Infections

Infectious diseases remain a leading cause of child morbidity and mortality worldwide. Now in its fourth edition, Manual of Childhood Infections is a simple-to-use, evidence-based, and practical handbook on how to recognize, investigate, and manage both common and rare infectious diseases in children and babies. Endorsed by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases, this fully updated version of the established 'Blue Book' complements the Pan European initiatives and UK diploma courses to harmonise patient management and training in Paediatric Infectious Diseases (PID), making it essential reading for UK and European paediatricians. Manual of Childhood Infections is divided into two alphabetized sections for easy access to information, covering key diagnosis and management features of infections alongside crucial points of epidemiology and clinical features. This fourth edition forms practical reading for practising paediatricians, featuring updates to all key chapters based on a literature review alongside new chapters focusing on emerging problems for Europe.

Walking the Camino of Life

All the events in my life, both good and bad, seem to have coalesced into a very long complicated math equation at this point in my life. Holy Trinity Retreat Center and the Camino de Santiago seem to symbolize the answer to this very complicated equation. All the roads have led me here and I would not change a thing. Holy Trinity Retreat Center was my hardest test because there were so many stories within stories. The Lord called me to build this Holy place and I am humbled that I was chosen. The I includes my wonderful wife and kids, and without them, I wouldn't have completed the task. Amazingly, my wife's illness gave us all strength, her hope gave us hope, strength, and faith. If we have done good in this world, and if we have made this a better world, we may be content that we have lived the Gospel and we may pray that the Lord will recognize us when we meet Him. Did we feed and clothe the poor? Did we give all that we could give and then some? The only reason and the main reason I wrote this book is to glorify God, to testify that I was a witness to the power of the Lord. That is what I found and that is all I need to know.

In Critical Marxism in Mexico, Stefan Gandler, coming from the tradition of the Frankfurt School, reveals the contributions that Adolfo Sánchez Vázquez and Bolívar Echeverría have made to universal thought. While in recent times Latin America has taken its distance from global power centers, and reorganised its political and economic relations, in philosophy the same tendency is barely visible. Critical Marxism in Mexico is a contribution to the reorganisation of international philosophical discussion, with Critical Theory as the point of departure. Despite having studied in Europe, where philosophical Eurocentrism remains virulent, Gandler opens his eyes to another tradition of modernity and offers an account of the life and philosophy of Adolfo Sánchez Vázquez and Bolívar Echeverría, former senior faculty members at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
