Discourse and Argumentation in Archaeology: Conceptual and Computational Approaches
This book covers the topic of discourse and argumentation in archaeology with an aim to serve the archaeology community. The book presents discourse and argument analysis approaches and techniques in an affordable manner and applied to archaeological situations. It focuses on techniques and approaches that can be applicable to multiple situations, periods and cultures. The book begins with an introduction to discourse and argumentation analysis as a general field and also as an auxiliary technique to archaeology. The work includes conceptual applications, ranging from causality, ontological connections, vagueness, social production of discourse and public debates. The work also devotes a section to computational approaches and describes the specifics of some well-known families of algorithms such as lexical processing, information extraction or sentiment analysis. The conclusion comments on the future and which reflects on the previous chapters and discusses how the presented techniques and approaches should be adapted or improved for easier and more powerful application to archaeology. Contributing authors bring perspectives from archaeology, linguistics, and computer science.
Enterprise, Business-Process and Information Systems Modeling
This book contains the refereed proceedings of two long-running events held along with the CAiSE conference relating to the areas of enterprise, business-process and information systems modeling: * the 23rd International Conference on Business Process Modeling, Development and Support, BPMDS 2022, and * the 27th International Conference on Exploring Modeling Methods for Systems Analysis and Development, EMMSAD 2022. The conferences were taking place in Leuven, Belgium during June 6-7, 2022. For BPMDS 7 full papers and 2 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected for publication from a total of 18 submissions; for EMMSAD 11 full papers and 3 short papers were accepted from 30 submissions after thorough reviews. The papers were organized in topical sections as follows: BPMDS: Actual and perceived challenges; business process modeling; understanding collaboration: one issue, many perspectives; and event logs – why it derivates; EMMSAD: Foundations of modeling and method engineering; enterprise, business process, and capability modeling; information systems and requirements modeling; domain-specific and knowledge modeling; and evaluation of modeling approaches.

For BPMDS 9 full papers and 2 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected for publication from a total of 26 submissions; for EMMSAD 9 full papers and 3 short papers were accepted from 26 submissions after thorough reviews. The BPMDS papers deal with a broad range of theoretical and applications-based research in business process modeling, development and support. EMMSAD focusses on modeling methods for systems analysis and development.

The two volume set LNCS 14958 + 14959 constitutes the proceedings of the 15th International Conference of the CLEF Association, CLEF 2024, held in Grenoble, France, during September 9–12, 2024. The proceedings contain 11 conference papers; 6 best of CLEF 2023 Labs' papers, and 14 Lab overview papers accepted from 45 submissions. In addition an overview paper on the CLEF activities in the last 25 years is included. Advances in Information Retrieval
The three-volume set LNCS 13980, 13981 and 13982 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 45th European Conference on IR Research, ECIR 2023, held in Dublin, Ireland, during April 2-6, 2023. The 65 full papers, 41 short papers, 19 demonstration papers, 12 reproducibility papers consortium papers, 7 tutorial papers, and 10 doctorial consortium papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 489 submissions. This volume LNCS 14163 constitutes the refereed proceedings of 14th International Conference of the CLEF Association, CLEF 2023, in Thessaloniki, Greece, during September 18–21, 2023. The 10 full papers and one short paper included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 35 submissions. The conference focuses on authorship attribution, fake news detection and news tracking, noise-detection in automatically transferred relevance judgments, impact of online education on children’s conversational search behavior, analysis of multi-modal social media content, knowledge graphs for sensitivity identification, a fusion of deep learning and logic rules for sentiment analysis, medical concept normalization and domain-specific information extraction.
