The Book Is Alive is a survey of current thinking and innovative practice in contemporary publishing based on papers presented at the Booklive international symposium in London in June 2012. This event brought together theorists and practitioners from the world of publishing and artists' books to examine the current transformation of the book and its ability to keep apace with digital culture and the emergence of new modes of making, reading, collecting and disseminating "on-the-page" work. It includes an interview with conceptual artist Joan Fontcuberta, a keynote text by Artbook - D.A.P. President Sharon Gallagher and writings by Andrej Blatnik, Sarah Bodman, Marco Bohr, Daniela Cascella, Arnaud Desjardin, Annabel Frearson, Peter Jaeger, Susan Johanknecht and Katharine Mignell, Sharon Kirland and Nick Thurston, Didier Mathieu, Paul Soulellis and Stefan Szczelkun.

"Google now includes indoor scenes within its street view photography. Most of the images are created by independent photographers who are hired by local businesses. The business licenses the images to Google, where they are stitched together for the street view database. Las Meninas is a series of 17 photographs depicting the photographer and/or camera's reflection visible in mirror or glass. All of the photographs are taken using Google Street View (interior views)."--artist's website.

Net Art Anthology aims to represent net art as an expansive, hybrid set of artistic practices that overlap with many media and disciplines. To accommodate this diversity of practice, Rhizome has defined "net art" as "art that acts on the network, or is acted on by it." Rhizome prefers the term "net art" because it has been used more widely by artists than "internet art," which is more commonly used by institutions, or "net.art," which usually evokes a specific mid-90s movement. The informality of the term "net art" is also appropriate not only to the critical use of the web as an artistic medium, but also informal practices such as selfies and Twitter poems.

Code X brings together a selection of personal histories of the current `transforming' and `expanding' of the book medium with the aim to challenge the very notion of what it could be(come) in today's complex information era. The design of Code--X within codex form represents a playful and daring twist of ink imitating pixel to render composition and design. The content is seen as a continuous scroll, cropped where screen meets paper edge. We celebrate both camps by highlighting dichotomies of edge to scroll, sequence to time and image to place.

* Comprehensive overview of the queer tattoo scene* Including works by 50 international artists* Tattoo art away from the mainstreamIn recent years, having received a considerable boost by social media, a young and dynamic scene has emerged that is dedicated to what has become known as queer tattooing. This special community, which is growing steadily, has been born out of a desire to break with the hierarchies and patriarchal structures of traditional tattoo art. It aims to create safe, tolerant, and inclusive spaces where queer, nonbinary, and trans people can experiment away from the mainstream and develop their own individual styles and techniques. In their work, many tattoo artists break free from the destructive, heteronormative, and capitalist ideals of beauty, creating a visual language that subverts the long tradition of cultural appropriation which characterizes the traditional tattoo scene. Their designs reveal a unique creative flair for queer iconography. This book is the first comprehensive introduction to this vibrant and diverse queer tattoo community. It presents 50 international tattoo artists with the help of extensive portraits, texts, and series of images.

QUEER.ARCHIVE.WORK is an urgent act of publishing that's radical, messy, and future-looking. It's a signal sent out into muddy waters, the start of a speculative practice emerging from (and moving towards) the undercommons—a collective place for subversive artists and writers who reject normative narratives. THIS PUBLICATION IS A LOOSE ASSEMBLING OF QUEER METHODOLOGIES, WITH A PARTICULAR VIEW TOWARDS NETWORK CULTURE, FAILURE, AND REFUTATION. It's an attempt to move far beyond the printed web. IT'S AN EXPERIMENT IN PUBLISHING AS PRACTICE AS RESISTANCE. Edited by Paul Soulellis in Pawtucket, RI.-from artist web page
