Advances in Dynamic Games and Their Applications

This book presents current advances in the theory of dynamic games and their applications in several disciplines. The selected contributions cover a variety of topics ranging from purely theoretical developments in game theory, to numerical analysis of various dynamic games, and then progressing to applications of dynamic games in economics, finance, and energy supply. A unified collection of state-of-the-art advances in theoretical and numerical analysis of dynamic games and their applications, the work is suitable for researchers, practitioners, and graduate students in applied mathematics, engineering, economics, as well as environmental and management sciences.

H-Infinity Optimal Control and Related Minimax Design Problems

This book is devoted to one of the fastest developing fields in modern control theory - the so-called H-infinity optimal control theory. Based mostly on recent work by the authors, the book is written on a good mathematical level. Many results in it are original.

The Interval Market Model in Mathematical Finance

Toward the late 1990s, several research groups independently began developing new, related theories in mathematical finance. These theories did away with the standard stochastic geometric diffusion “Samuelson” market model (also known as the Black-Scholes model because it is used in that most famous theory), instead opting for models that allowed minimax approaches to complement or replace stochastic methods. Among the most fruitful models were those utilizing game-theoretic tools and the so-called interval market model. Over time, these models have slowly but steadily gained influence in the financial community, providing a useful alternative to classical methods. A self-contained monog...

Numerical Methods in Finance

GERAD celebrates this year its 25th anniversary. The Center was created in 1980 by a small group of professors and researchers of HEC Montreal, McGill University and of the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal. GERAD's activities achieved sufficient scope to justify its conversion in June 1988 into a Joint Research Centre of HEC Montreal, the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal and McGill University. In 1996, the U- versite du Quebec a Montreal joined these three institutions. GERAD has fifty members (professors), more than twenty research associates and post doctoral students and more than two hundreds master and Ph.D. students. GERAD is a multi-university center and a vital forum for the devel- ment of operations research. Its mission is defined around the following four complementarily objectives: • The original and expert contribution to all research fields in GERAD's area of expertise; • The dissemination of research results in the best scientific outlets as well as in the society in general; • The training of graduate students and post doctoral researchers; • The contribution to the economic community by solving important problems and providing transferable tools.

Advances in Dynamic Games

This book focuses on various aspects of dynamic game theory, presenting state-of-the-art research and serving as a testament to the vitality and growth of the field of dynamic games and their applications. The selected contributions, written by experts in their respective disciplines, are outgrowths of presentations originally given at the 13th International Symposium of Dynamic Games and Applications held in Wrocław. The book covers a variety of topics, ranging from theoretical developments in game theory and algorithmic methods to applications, examples, and analysis in fields as varied as environmental management, finance and economics, engineering, guidance and control, and social interaction.

H∞-Optimal Control and Related Minimax Design Problems

This book is devoted to one of the fastest developing fields in modern control theory - the so-called H-infinity optimal control theory. The book can be used for a second or third year graduate level course in the subject, and researchers working in the area will find the book useful as a standard reference. Based mostly on recent work of the authors, the book is written on a good mathematical level. Many results in it are original, interesting, and inspirational. The topic is central to modern control and hence this definitive book is highly recommended to anyone who wishes to catch up with important theoretical developments in applied mathematics and control.
