The financial system plays a vital role in the growth and development of the economy. The financial literacy helps to overcome problems relating to personal finance such as savings, borrowings, investments, retirement planning, etc. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has defined financial literacy as “a combination of awareness, knowledge, skill, attitude and behaviour necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual well-being”.
