R.M. Ahmose's extensive background in psychology plays a key role in the three short stories presented in R.M. Ahmose Presents Tales You Never Saw Coming. Add this element to the keen observations taken from life in the inner city of Baltimore, and a plethora of knowledge gained from university classes, and the result is an imaginative, quirky collection of stories that elicit deep thought and expansive thinking. R.M. Ahmose Presents Tales You Never Saw Coming is a collection of three stories, each of which is meant to delight with its imaginativeness, quirkiness, and sometimes eyebrow-raising social commentary. While robots are the stated central characters in the lead story "Better Design," this tale actually highlights features of human society. "Saved" blends religion, devoutness, doubt, agnosticism, and ill fortune. The final story, "Psychotherapy and Desserts," presents a tale of intrigue based on an experience at a community mental health center. A suspenseful collection of stories, R.M. Ahmose Presents Tales You Never Saw Coming pays heed to the idea that nothing is as it seems.
Once again, R. M. Ahmose offers a duo of compelling tales of suspense. Composed, as before, with intent to jog the reader out of contentment with astandarda reality, this excursion is provided courtesy of aThe Office Managera and aA Nice Family.a Imagine a newly divorced woman, considered by members of her first family to be psychologically fragile, having set off to start a new life, alone, in a new town and state. Imagine, too, that she is endowed (or plaguedayou be the judge) with a sensitivity that seems to expose the inner, hidden sentiments of those around her. aThe Office Managera tells the tale. A family moves into the town of Berkshire. The clan may be a little intellectually challenged but otherwise is friendly, law abiding, unobtrusivea]some might even say humble. So why do so many members of their community turn so maliciously against them? Most believe they truly personify the storyas title, aA Nice Family.a

This ancient country, with its continuous history of over 6000 years, holds a great attraction for travellers, who are intrigued by the Pyramids, the Sphinx and the tomb of young Tutankhamen, while the narrow green ribbon of the Nile cuts its way from south to north through the desert. However, this is only a small part of Egypt, and this handbook encourages travellers to look wider. Areas covered include the small palm-sheltered settlements in the oases of the western desert and the expanses of Sinai where the coasts are fringed with coral reefs. It provides travellers with detailed and comprehensive background information plus practical travel information.

The Egyptological literature usually belittles or ignores the political and intellectual initiative and success of the Nubian Twenty-Fifth Dynasty in the reunification of Egypt, while students of Nubian history frequently ignore or misunderstand the impact of Egyptian ideas on the cultural developments in pre- and post-Twenty-Fifth-Dynasty Nubia. This book re-assesses the textual and archaeological evidence concerning the interaction between Egypt and the polities emerging in Upper Nubia between the Late Neolithic period and 500 AD. The investigation is carried out, however, from the special viewpoint of the political, social, economic, religious and cultural history of the frontier region b...
Religion plays a central role in nearly every aspect in people's life of most pre-modern cultures. Especially the interconnection between religion and politics is a common fact but the details of this relation and interacting processes behind this are not substantially studied. Therefore, this volume does not aim to confirm the linkage of religion and politics in general but to investigate its functionalities in political processes. A focus is placed on the political role of religious personnel beyond their religious and cultic tasks and their influence in pre-modern societies from a cross-cultural perspective. Specialists from various disciplines present their research based on case studies. Thereby this interdisciplinary volume covers a wide geographical and chronological range from ancient Egypt in the Bronze Age until medieval England. These papers are organised according to core functions questioning the instrumentalisation of religious personnel.
