Isn't that something? by RY Deshpande is an astounding book of poems written recently by him, a very unusual one in poetic literature. It has 40 poems followed by explanatory details in the form of extensive Notes-Comments-Discussions. We at Savitri Foundation are glad to publish this extraordinary creative work of the author.While the first part of the book consists of poems making the essential text of the book, the other presents interactions, through e-mails, with elderly members in his contact-list.

The Nod of Nandi
Many of the poems included here were shared with acquaintances who would enjoy poetry æsthetics. There comments and observations were valuable, some of which have been included in the present text. We are particularly grateful to Vikas Bamba and Akash Deshpande who has also put them to poetic tunes. The last two poems, Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, have been translated into Hindi, Marathi, Italian and French. The Radiant Daughter
Savitri is the Consciousness of the Beyond with the incarnate soul's urge and claim for the realization of the spirit's verities in the life here. The divine Savitri takes human birth as Aswapati's daughter, comes as the Word of Realisation. In it is the twofold Yoga of the material opening to the spiritual as much as the spiritual entering into the material. Aswapati keeps the ground ready for the willed work to be undertaken, and to invoke the transcendental Power to take the mortal birth; it is she who will come as Savitri to carry out the divine Action. Her task is to win victory over Death. This is what we have in The Radiant Daughter which also proves to be a wonderful Record of Savitri's Yoga, the Yoga that had been done and the Yoga she would be doing. But Savitri is not just that; Savitri is another force of revelation carrying in it another dynamism. In it the past really is another country which has to be left behind: Savitri is a yogic force in action. That is what makes it a true biography presenting her life to the extent possible for us to see and possibly to live in.
The Ancient Tale of Savitri
Sri Aurobindo considered Savitri as his "main work" and during the last couple of years of his life allotted out of his precious time every day two and a half hours for its composition. But it did not mean that he took time off from his spiritual pre-possession simply for the purposes of a happy literary pursuit. Rather it was his constant companion in the task of realisation and establishment of the dynamic Truth in this creation. In a letter he writes: "Savitri is the record of a seeing."
