En hommage au professeur Bernard Charlery de La Masselière (université Toulouse ? Jean Jaurès), quatre géographes, toulousains et bordelais, ont coordonné les contributions de 32 auteurs, dont 13 de pays du Sud. L'objet principal est de réfléchir à la diversité des trajectoires des systèmes ruraux dans les pays tropicaux; il met en lumière des dynamiques de production, d'intégration et de diversifications dans des espaces de plus en plus connectés à d'autres échelles. L'essentiel du propos relève de géographies sociales faisant la part belle au terrain.
