Based upon the Roman Archaeology Conference of 2002, the book contains 17 up-to-date chapters written by the excavators of the main Roman towns of Hispania Tarraconensis, all translated into English. The authors concentrate on the earliest Roman phases of the towns and their relationship to pre-Roman developments. Towns treated include Emporion (Empuries), Tarragona, Iluro, Baetulo and Iesso, Saguntum (Arse), Valencia, Carthago Nova, Lucentum, Ilici and Ilunum, Pollentia and the Balearics, Labitolosa and the Pyrenees, Segeda, Numantia, Segobriga, Asturica and Legio, Bracara.
