Neutrosophic IADOV in the Analysis of Child Labor and its Causes

In Ecuador, there is a systematic regulatory legal framework that contemplates child labor in correspondence with the provisions of international organizations, institutions, treaties, and conventions. A work that is prohibited if its nature or the conditions in which it is carried out, is likely to harm the physical and mental development, health, safety, and morality of minors. The objective of this work is to analyze child labor and its causes. This kind of work is exercised by girls, boys, and adolescents and it hinders, among other things, access to education for those minors. To investigate the causes that provoke it, it is decided to use the Iadov neutrosophic method, to analyze the consensus and acceptance of the experts. It is concluded that poverty is the main cause of child labor. So, the ability of the poorest families to protect their children should be supported.

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems, vol. 52/2022

Leftist Governments in Latin America

Leftist Governments in Latin America

Can Latin America's 'new left' stimulate economic development, enhance social equity, and deepen democracy in spite of the economic and political constraints it faces? This is the first book to systematically examine the policies and performance of the left-wing governments that have risen to power in Latin America during the last decade. Featuring thorough studies of Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, and Venezuela by renowned experts, the volume argues that moderate leftist governments have attained greater, more sustainable success than their more radical, contestatory counterparts. Moderate governments in Brazil and Chile have generated solid economic growth, reduced poverty and inequality, and created innovative and fiscally sound social programs, while respecting the fundamental principles of market economics and liberal democracy. By contrast, more radical governments, exemplified by Hugo Chávez in Venezuela, have expanded state intervention and popular participation and attained some short-term economic and social successes.

The Atlantic Forest

The Atlantic Forest is one of the 36 hotspots for biodiversity conservation worldwide. It is a unique, large biome (more than 3000 km in latitude; 2500 in longitude), marked by high biodiversity, high degree of endemic species and, at the same time, extremely threatened. Approximately 70% of the Brazilian population lives in the area of this biome, which makes the conflict between biodiversity conservation and the sustainability of the human population a relevant issue. This book aims to cover: 1) the historical characterization and geographic variation of the biome; 2) the distribution of the diversity of some relevant taxa; 3) the main threats to biodiversity, and 4) possible opportunities to ensure the biodiversity conservation, and the economic and social sustainability. Also, it is hoped that this book can be useful for those involved in the development of public policies aimed at the conservation of this important global biome.

Since being popularised by Goleman's (1995) best-seller by the same name, Emotional Intelligence (EI), as a construct, has permeated circles in both lay and academic psychological communities. This construct has been broadly applied to address health, education, and business concerns. An in-depth examination of EI research, however, suggests some concerns regarding this construct. In particular, a great deal of variety exists regarding how EI is best conceptualised and measured. The current volume is designed to address measurement issues regarding EI in a multi-faceted manner. The work presented here provides the interested reader with broad, in-depth, and critical perspectives on (a) how EI is best measured, and, by extension, (b) what EI really is.

The most comprehensive book ever written on leatherback sea turtles. Weighing as much as 2,000 pounds and reaching lengths of over seven feet, leatherback turtles are the world’s largest reptile. These unusual sea turtles have a thick, pliable shell that helps them to withstand great depths—they can swim more than one thousand meters below the surface in search of food. And what food source sustains these goliaths? Their diet consists almost exclusively of jellyfish, a meal they crisscross the oceans to find. Leatherbacks have been declining in recent decades, and some predict they will be gone by the end of this century. Why? Because of two primary factors: human redevelopment of nestin...
