La vita oggi è caratterizzata da un misto disorganico di mondo reale e virtuale, a livello sociale e a livello individuale. Gli strumenti digitali sono ormai talmente diffusi e pervasivi che risulta impossibile stabilire delle regole condivisibili nel loro uso e molto difficile controllarne gli abusi nocivi e dannosi e a volte persino criminali. L'attuale emergenza evidenzia però che esistono enormi potenzialità negli strumenti digitali nell'affrontare la pandemia nei grandi agglomerati urbani del pianeta: "smart working", "didattica a distanza", "telemedicina". E' il momento di cambiare paradigmi e visioni di vita quotidiana, al fine di rendere resiliente e proattivo il territorio umanizzato, distribuendo tutti i servizi disponibili con tali potenzialità, in modo strutturale, integrato ed efficace, e non solo emergenziale. Ciò significa pensare le città come organismi viventi dotate di strumenti adatti alla sua sopravvivenza, e creare una cultura urbanistica del territorio di tipo cibernetico, con strutture e funzioni che ne permettano l'autoregolazione e la resilienza continua.
