Entendendo-se o cinema, como forma de linguagem que é, como um instrumento poderoso de construção da realidade social – e não apenas de sua representação –, pretendeu-se verificar de que maneira a sub-representação feminina na produção fílmica acaba por contribuir para a perpetuação do habitus patriarcal, na medida em que transfere aos homens o verdadeiro domínio sobre o pensar, o agir e o sentir femininos.
