Wood has played a major role throughout human history. Strong and versatile, the earliest humans used wood to make shelters, cook food, construct tools, build boats, and make weapons. Recently, scientists, politicians, and economists have renewed their interest in wood because of its unique properties, aesthetics, availability, abundance, and perhaps most important of all, its renewability. However, wood will not reach its highest use potential until we fully describe it, understand the mechanisms that control its performance properties, and, finally, are able to manipulate those properties to give us the desired performance we seek. The Handbook of Wood Chemistry and Wood Composites analyze...
The International Meeting on Thermodiffusion provides a unique opportunity for sharing ideas about theoretical, experimental and numerical results on diffusion- and thermodiffusion related research. The successful series of IMT meetings aims to provide a forum for discussion, face-to-face interaction between scientists and technologists, and a mechanism for developing new collaborations. The IMT15 is aimed to discuss the latest results on transport properties in multicomponent fluids: innovative theoretical approaches, new experimental results and techniques as well as state of the art numerical methods. The most fundamental aspect of the conference will be the discussion amongst scientists, the sharing of ideas and creating new and reinforced existing collaborations.
"This book examines the latest research advances and technological developments for wood material as an engineering product and the innovation it provides for environmental friendly materials"--Provided by publisher.
The ongoing twin transition of the wood-based panel industry towards a green, digital, and more resilient bioeconomy is essential for a successful transformation to decarbonize the sector and implement a circular development model, transforming linear industrial value chains to minimize pollution and waste generation, and providing more sustainable growth and jobs. This green transition represents an opportunity to place the wood-based panel industry on a new path of more sustainable and inclusive growth, tackling climate change and reducing its dependence on fossil-derived raw materials, thus improving the industry's resource efficiency and security. It provides examples of the most recent ...

In collaboration with the MDPI publishing house, we are pleased to introduce the reader to our new project, a Special Issue entitled "Advanced Eco-friendly Wood-Based Composites". This Special Issue provides an opportunity to investigate advanced eco-friendly wood-based composites from a broader perspective. The coronavirus pandemic and shutdown measures employed to contain it, as well as the ongoing war in Ukraine, have influenced and decelerated the world economy and adversely impacted research activities on most levels in all countries. Surprisingly, researchers in the field of wood-based composites have continued to make progress, which is also described in this Special Issue.
