Multisensor Fusion Estimation Theory and Application

This book focuses on the basic theory and methods of multisensor data fusion state estimation and its application. It consists of four parts with 12 chapters. In Part I, the basic framework and methods of multisensor optimal estimation and the basic concepts of Kalman filtering are briefly and systematically introduced. In Part II, the data fusion state estimation algorithms under networked environment are introduced. Part III consists of three chapters, in which the fusion estimation algorithms under event-triggered mechanisms are introduced. Part IV consists of two chapters, in which fusion estimation for systems with non-Gaussian but heavy-tailed noises are introduced. The book is primarily intended for researchers and engineers in the field of data fusion and state estimation. It also benefits for both graduate and undergraduate students who are interested in target tracking, navigation, networked control, etc.

From the Khitans to the Jurchens & Mongols, A History of Barbarians in Triangle Wars & Quartet Conflicts is the third book of The Scourge of God Tetralogy. This is a book with comprehensive writeup of the barbarians’ history spanning more than one thousand years, from before the anno domini eras and inclusive of the expulsion of the Mongols from China. The subtitle about the barbarians in triangle wars & quartet conflicts is self-explanatory for the historical environment of different groups of barbarians successively rising up on the steppes to overpower the former with more savagery. This third book, while carrying a title with emphasis on the Khitans, the Jurchens and Mongols, also cove...

Porous Silicon

Porous Silicon

Due to the recent discovery of the room-temperature visible light emission from porous silicon (P-Si), a great interest in P-Si and related materials has arisen in the last decade of the 20th century. Crystalline (c-) Si, at the heart of integrated circuits, has an indirect band gap of 1.1 eV, which limits its application in optoelectronics. The visible light emitting P-Si may open a new field combining Si integrated technology and optoelectronics. This book is a comprehensive review of the recent research and development of porous silicon. Strong visible photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) from P-Si and other forms of silicon nanocrystallites (nc-Si) are reviewed. Several proposed mechanisms for the PL from porous silicon such as quantum confinement, amorphicity and molecular PL are studied. The following issues are covered: mechanisms for the visible light emission, physical structures, studies of the PL and EL, correlation of structure and optical studies, surface physics and chemistry, relationships among various forms (P-Si, a-Si, µc-Si), device applications, future developments.

Spiroplasma, Mycoplasma, Phytoplasma, and Other Genome-Reduced and Wall-Less Mollicutes: Their Genetics, Genomics, Mechanics, Interactions and Symbiosis with Insects, Other Animals and Plants

Genome-reduced, wall-less, and fastidious bacteria of the genera Spiroplasma, Mycoplasma, Phytoplasma and allies belonging to the class Mollicutes, are known for a number of unique microbiological features, which have prompted researchers to investigate their basic, applied, and medical aspects. They are mostly parasitic or symbiotic to a variety of animals and plants, living on or within the eukaryotic cells. Spiroplasmas, recognized by their characteristic spiral shape and active twitching motility, are associated with insects and/or plants. S. poulsonii causes remarkable reproductive phenotype, called male-killing, of their insect hosts. S. citri and S. kunkelii are notorious as devastati...
