Tras describir los antecedentes y cómo surge el Doctorado en las Escuelas de Ingenieros y compararlo con el del área de Ciencias, se analiza el Plan 64 y la fundación de la ETSICCP de Santander y cómo se inicia la dedicación exclusiva de su profesorado. Se describen los primeros años y quiénes fueron sus directores, algunos de los grupos de trabajo existentes y la creación del Centro de cálculo. Se comenta el convenio de colaboración con Nuclenor y su importancia, así como las colaboraciones con la Universidad de Oviedo y las salidas al extranjero de sus profesores y sus importantes implicaciones. Se describen los apoyos a las Escuelas de Ciudad Real y Burgos y las acciones solidarias de la ETSICCP de Santander y algunos reconocimientos exteriores.
