Konsep Pentadbiran Awam (UUM Press)
Pentadbiran awam merupakan satu bidang yang umum (generic) dan merangkumi segala aspek kehidupan manusia. Pentadbiran awam menaungi pelbagai cabang bidang kajian dan juga menjadi teras pengetahuan (body of knowledge) kepada beberapa bidang penting yang lain. Dari segi asal usulnya, pentadbiran awam merupakan cabang kepada bidang sains sosial yang luas itu. Oleh itu, bersama-sama bidang ini terdapat beberapa lagi bidang lain yang berkongsi teras pengetahuan yang sama. Keadaan ini menggambarkan bahawa bidang pentadbiran awam merupakan satu bidang yang mengandungi pelbagai disiplin (multidisciplinary). Kajian atau pemahaman terhadap bidang ini tidak akan lengkap tanpa turut memberi perhatian kepada bidang berkaitan yang lain juga. Banyak istilah dan konsep dalam pentadbiran awam menjadi istilah jenis ‘guna sama’, iaitu dikongsi bersama dengan bidang yang lain. Kedudukan sebenar bidang ini perlu dijelaskan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman atau menghuraikan kekeliruan tentang bidang yang umum ini, serta pertindanan dengan bidang yang lain.
