The Battle Rages Higher
" The Battle Rages Higher tells, for the first time, the story of the Fifteenth Kentucky Infantry, a hard-fighting Union regiment raised largely from Louisville and the Knob Creek valley where Abraham Lincoln lived as a child. Although recruited in a slave state where Lincoln received only 0.9 percent of the 1860 presidential vote, the men of the Fifteenth Kentucky fought and died for the Union for over three years, participating in all the battles of the Atlanta campaign, as well as the battles of Perryville, Stones River and Chickamauga. Using primary research, including soldiers’ letters and diaries, hundreds of contemporary newspaper reports, official army records, and postwar memoirs, Kirk C. Jenkins vividly brings the Fifteenth Kentucky Infantry to life. The book also includes an extensive biographical roster summarizing the service record of each soldier in the thousand-member unit. Anglophone Expatriate Mothers Raising Biracial Children in Korea
With a relatively recent rapid increase in international marriages, Korea provides a fascinating case study in cross-cultural pastoral care at a time of increasing global movement and migration. This book presents a pastoral care model based on interviews with a relatively under-researched demographic of international women marriage migrants. The pastoral care model was developed by listening to the many experiences of women from Western countries who are raising their biracial children in Korea, a country which is still wrestling with the concept of multiculturalism. At a time when many pastors will find themselves with expatriates, repatriates, or international marriages in their congregation, this book presents a model for approaching pastoral care, particularly if such women are mothers.

Discourse Perspectives on English
Covering nearly one thousand years, this volume explores medieval and modern English texts from fresh perspectives. Within the relatively new field of historical discourse linguistics, the synchronic analysis of large textual units and consideration of text-external features in relation to discourse has so far received little attention. To fill that gap, this volume offers studies of medieval instructional and religious texts and correspondence from the early modern period. The contributions highlight writer-audience relationships, the intended use of texts, descriptions of text-type, and questions of orality and manuscript contextualization. The topics, ranging from the reception of Old English texts to the conventions of practical instruction in Middle English to the epistolary construction of science in early Modern English, are directly relevant to historical linguists, discourse and text linguists, and students of the history of English.
