Operative procedures performed directly on the base of the brain, inner ear, and cranial nerves are inherently delicate undertakings further complicated by the difficulty of achieving easy access to this confined space. Written by pioneers working at one of the world's leading centers for advanced neurosurgery, An Atlas of Skull Base Surgery clearly describes the steps by which each of the key anatomical structures at the skull base and inner ear may be accessed in order to perform advanced surgical interventions. Featuring over 170 specially commissioned diagrams, and over 100 photographs of MRI, CT, and other imaging modalities, the atlas comprehensively covers a range of surgical approaches. The authors use the detailed supporting artwork to demonstrate the main steps in each procedure and help readers conceptualize the anatomy and surgical trajectory. With extensive accompanying notes on patient assessment and postoperative care, An Atlas of Skull Base Surgery facilitates the complete evaluation and management of patients with skull base lesions in which the clinical presentation or cell type mandates an operative procedure.
Intelligent Coatings for Corrosion Control covers the most current and comprehensive information on the emerging field of intelligent coatings. The book begins with a fundamental discussion of corrosion and corrosion protection through coatings, setting the stage for deeper discussion of the various types of smart coatings currently in use and in development, outlining their methods of synthesis and characterization, and their applications in a variety of corrosion settings. Further chapters provide insight into the ongoing research, current trends, and technical challenges in this rapidly progressing field. - Reviews fundamentals of corrosion and coatings for corrosion control before delving into a discussion of intelligent coatingsāuseful for researchers and grad students new to the subject - Covers the most current developments in intelligent coatings for corrosion control as presented by top researchers in the field - Includes many examples of current and potential applications of smart coatings to a variety of corrosion problems
Presents a study of occurrences of zinc-rich sulphide mineralization located within metasedimentary subprovinces of the Superior Province of northern Ontario. The study was conducted to acquire data on the associated rocks, structures, alteration, style, and type of mineralization, and to characterize the deposit settings for a little known mineral deposit type found within Neoarchean metasedimentary subprovinces. Two occurrences were studied, the Pence Township zinc occurrence in the Pontiac Subprovince and the Hurdman Township zinc occurrence in the Quetico Subprovince. Recommendations are provided with regard to mineral exploration.
This is a review of 190 years of literature on copper and its alloys. It integrates information on pigments, corrosion and minerals, and discusses environmental conditions, conservation methods, ancient and historical technologies.

Mineralogy, as a branch of geoscience, has as its subject the composition of the solid crust of the earth. We recognize that our earth once circled the sun as a red-hot glowing sphere, many billions of years ago- a length of time virtually unimaginable to the human mind.
