Pandemic Protagonists
During the first mandatory lockdowns of the Covid-19 pandemic, citizens worldwide turned to »pandemic fictions« or started to produce their own »Corona Fictions« across different media. These accounts of (previously) experienced or imagined health crises feature a great variety of protagonists and their (re)actions in response to the exceptional circumstances. The contributors to this volume take a closer look at different pandemic protagonists in fictional narratives relating to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as in existing pandemic fictions. Thereby they provide new insights into pandemic narratives from a cultural, literary, and media studies perspective from antiquity to today.

Dalle pagine di Libera nos a malo (1963), fino alle ‘carte postume’ de L’apprendistato (2012), «l’inframondo verdastro» diviene il punto di partenza per ricostruire una biosfera letteraria, attraversata sempre da un duplice movimento: memoria intertestuale e interazione continua fra lingua italiana, lingua inglese e dialetto vicentino. Il ‘giardino riflesso’ di Meneghello si rivela così in tutta la sua valenza semantica e fa luce su un tema che risulta essere di grande complessità e un oggetto di particolare interesse per l’ecocritica letteraria.

Tra la scrittura di Luigi Meneghello e il mondo naturale sussiste un legame implicito eppur profondo, destinato a riverberarsi in quelle che sono le pieghe del testo, sollecitando letture inedite e trasversali. E l’ecocritica, in tal caso, diviene non solo un punto di partenza privilegiato, ma si assume il compito di riflettere più a fondo su quelli che, a conti fatti, divengono i tratti salienti del Meneghello eco-scrittore: dall’emergenza ambientale, alla semantica dei luoghi; dalla concezione del testo quale ‘ecosistema’, alle storie sulle cose e sulla materia; per poi approdare, nella seconda parte del volume, al racconto sul regno animale, teso a ridefinire l’assetto valoriale dell’Homo sapiens e il suo posto in questa biosfera narrata.

In this book Saggi sulla teoria della letteratura ("Essays on the Theory of Literature") Enza Biagini puts in play her rich theoretical background and a vast knowledge of texts and authors to deal with some fundamental problems concerning literature, its status, its metamorphoses and its being necessary. Following modern paths, she leads the readers on the traces of different genres and situations difficult to define (the essay-writing, the unfinished ...), of 'temporary' themes always on the point of becoming something else (the nocturnal, the relationship between text and image. ..). The works revolve around the exergues and the definitions of the dictionaries: a whole world of suggestions and reasoning that the author finely brings not only to the field of theory, but also to the world of the Italian and French narrative.
