Política social en tiempos de la Cuarta Transformación. Continuidad o cambio de paradigma
En este libro se analizan los desafíos que enfrenta la Nueva Política Social en México en materia de pobreza, desigualdad y movilidad social, en el contexto donde la economía y específicamente los mercados de trabajo se han reestructurado en un sentido donde se reducen las fuentes de empleos y se deterioran las condiciones laborales, limitando las oportunidades, principalmente de la población más vulnerable. En este sentido, se cuestiona el papel de la nueva política social más allá de las evaluaciones, en una perspectiva transformadora del contexto actual de pobreza y desigualdad que prevalece en México, tomando en cuenta las limitaciones que este cambio de paradigma en las políticas públicas enfrentará para alcanzar resultados que contribuyan a impulsar la movilidad social. El riesgo en la sociología contemporánea
En este artículo analizamos el concepto de riesgo moderno a que hacen referencia las teorías sociológicas de Beck, Giddens y Luhmann y establecemos un comparativo con la teoría de riesgo social que ocupó a las políticas sociales durante el siglo XX, representada por Castel y Esping--Andersen. i bien existen importantes diferencias en el tipo de eventos estudiados en ambas perspectivas, se argumenta que éstas disminuyen si el concepto de riesgo moderno se complejiza. Así también, que la utilidad de este concepto para analizar problemas sociales relevantes en la actualidad aumenta si la discusión deja de ubicarse en sus manifestaciones más extremas.

La relevancia del diálogo sobre estos temas es la búsqueda de un México social, es decir, libre del hambre, de la indigencia y la desprotección. Es, también, referirse a un México que aminore la desigualdad económica, social, cultural y racial que hoy marca nuestra nación y que amenaza a la democracia y al desarrollo. En el camino hacia un México social no hay recetas ni manuales. Hacer este camino implica una revisión profunda de prácticas, de políticas públicas realizadas u omitidas; de formas de ser y hacer.
