Stephen Lack woke up one morning channeling his inner brat! He was not a bad boy, in fact, he was just another excitable kid that wanted to tell you everything he knew. This time, it was about animals. About 70 Animals is a unique coloring book, not only with a drawing of an animal on each page ready for coloring with a few little known facts about that animal, but also space on the page for the child to draw their own animal or habitat related to that animal. The text is direct and to the point, like that of a child writing an essay that is only 3 or 4 lines. The book is meant to be read to the child at bedtime, a few animals before falling asleep, and the filling in of the animals as a coloring book may be done at any time. The author and illustrator Stephen Lack is known for his more confrontational work in both paintings, sculpture and film, but this project is perhaps "the gentlest thing I have ever done. I look at it as a gift."
