Turkey's Water Policy
Water is a strategic natural resource of vital importance to all nations. As such it has been the cause of several international disputes. For Turkey especially, water is crucial to social and economic development. Turkey’s current national water regime that emphasises water resources development and management for productive uses, however, faces growing environmental concerns and international criticism regarding transboundary water cooperation. Furthermore, EU accession requires Turkey to adopt an extensive and ambitious body of EU water law. To understand Turkey’s position to international water law, the national policies and socio-economic circumstances that impact water resources management need to be considered. This book fills the existing knowledge gap through a broad perspective and analysis of the current state of Turkey’s water policy and its management of both national and transboundary waters. Change the attitude, Change the climate through Restorative Justice: A pilot study in the UK, Switzerland, Romania, France and Turkey
This E-book was produced as part of the project “Glocal”. The data on which the book is based was collected over two years through the project, which aimed to create a report from the participating European countries about the climate change, environmental harm and practical solutions to be followed across Europe. In this comprehensive report, a comparative analysis has been conducted presenting findings from the 5 partner countries, which is being followed by chapters in partners’ native languages. Following this, an evaluation of the overall project and its activities of implementation is being presented. Policy recommendations are one of the most important part of the report to be shared and implemented in the future. Coordinated by the Restorative Justice for All International Institute and delivered in partnership with Carmen Sylva Art College, İ.ova Youth Art Culture Organisation, Lycée Beauséjour and Eruditus Language School. The status and distribution of freshwater biodiversity in the eastern Mediterranean
The Eastern Mediterranean region supports just over 4.4% of the global human population yet contains only 1.1% of its renewable water resources, which are under constant threat from the impacts of unsustainable water withdrawal, dam development and climate change. This IUCN report and accompanying dataset represents a major advance in the provision of information to help incorporate biodiversity needs into water development planning processes within an Integrated River Basin Management framework. This volume includes species information compiled for each river and lake sub-basin and incorporates information from the assessment conducted by IUCN's Global Species Programme, in collaboration with its partners, of the status and distribution of all described species of freshwater fishes, molluscs, odonates, and plants from across the Eastern Mediterranean with existing information for species of freshwater dependent amphibians, birds, crustaceans, and mammals. This work represents the most comprehensive assessment yet of freshwater biodiversity at the species level for this part of the world.
