Integrated Assessment of the Impact of Trade Liberalization
Indonesias food security and rural development are based on rice production, which provides the bulk of farm incomes and agricultural employment. When trade liberalization has a negative impact on rice farmers net incomes it may cause a decline in rice production. This, in turn, has a number of environmental, social and economic consequences. The end goal of this Integrated Assessment is to develop policy packages based on the findings of the study to mitigate the negative effects of trade liberalization and trade-related policies and promote the positive ones.
Tropical Rainforests and Agroforests Under Global Change
Human-induced land-use intensification and climate change are major global change drivers likely to continue for a long time. This international symposium provides an open platform for all scientists from socio-economic and natural sciences interested in the effects of global change on rainforests and agroforests. Balancing the ecological and socio-economic benefits of different agroforestry systems, comparing patterns and processes in managed agroforest and natural forest, and modeling the dynamics of land-use change and related resource degradation under various policy scenarios are major topics of this symposium.

Isi buku ini merupakan rangkaian penelitian dari Dr. Muhammad Ramdhan selaku kontributor utama dalam pelaksanaan tugas belajar di IPB tahun 2016-2019. Penulis utama bekerja sama dengan para dosen dan civitas akademika IPB sehingga berkesempatan untuk bekerja sama dengan Australia-Indonesia Centre dalam meneliti kota Bogor sebagai kota ramah air. Buku ini berjudul Pengelolaan Sumber Daya Air Permukaan Berkelanjutan di Perkotaan (Studi Kasus: Kota Bogor). Dengan harapan dapat menjadi bahan pertimbangan para pemangku kepentingan di kota-kota besar di seluruh Indonesia dalam mengelola kebutuhan air bersih warga kotanya.
Land-use Change in Oil Palm Dominated Tropical Landscapes - an Agent-based Model to Explore Ecological and Socio-economic Trade-offs
Abstract: Land-use changes have dramatically transformed tropical landscapes. We describe an ecological-economic land-use change model as an integrated, exploratory tool used to analyze how tropical land-use change affects ecological and socio-economic functions. The model analysis seeks to determine what kind of landscape mosaic can improve the ensemble of ecosystem functioning, biodiversity, and economic benefit based on the synergies and trade-offs that we have to account for. More specifically, (1) how do specific ecosystem functions, such as carbon storage, and economic functions, such as household consumption, relate to each other? (2) How do external factors, such as the output prices of crops, affect these relationships? (3) How do these relationships change when production inefficiency differs between smallholder farmers and learning is incorporated?
