Macunaíma
Mario de Andrade publicou `Macunaíma` em 1938. Por falta de editora, a tiragem do romance foi de apenas oitocentos exemplares, mas o livro foi festejado pela crítica modernista por sua inovação narrativa e de linguagem. Macunaíma é o herói sem caráter, símbolo de um povo que não descobriu sua identidade. Uma releitura do folclore, das lendas e mitos do Brasil, escrita numa linguagem popular e oral.
Poesias completas
Em 1943, no plano de suas Obras Completas, 'Poesias completas' deveria ampliar o conteúdo de Poesias, seleta que revisita os títulos publicados no modernismo da década de 1920 - 'Pauliceia desvairada', 'Losango cáqui', 'Clã do jabuti', e 'Remate de males', trazendo também os inéditos 'A costela do Grã Cão' e 'Livro azul'. 'Poesias completas' abrangeria a integralidade dos livros até 1930, os inéditos divulgados em 1941 e novos inéditos como 'O carro da Miséria'. Apenas em 1955, dez anos após a morte do autor, a obra se concretiza. A presente edição de 'Poesias completas' busca restituir, nos textos apurados mediante o confronto com edições em vida e manuscritos, o projeto original de Mário de Andrade para esse livro. Anotada e acrescida de documentos, contribui vivamente para a história da literatura no Brasil.
