Albert Oehlen

Christiane Blattmann: Un-Break My Walls
The first monograph on Christiane Blattmann takes its title from her solo show 'Un-Break My Walls' at Kunsthalle Münster in 2019. Blattmann intricately interweaves, intermeshes, combines, compounds, merges, and processes in her work not only materials but also structures, things, stories, characters. The volume includes extensive illustrations of exhibitions, projects, and works, and a great number of black-and-white images capture the artist?s studio practice. The interactions of materials, along with theoretical and literary references, serve as important points of departure, and the emblematic outcomes involve text and texture as material structure and patterned surface; vivid condensation and entanglement; and invitations to exploration and reflection. The book compiles different elements designed on a series of shifting layers. 0Texts by Merle Radtke and Chloe Stead and a conversation between Christiane Blattmann and Than Hussein Clark provide insight into Blattmann?s art, complemented by a piece of fiction by Huw Lemmey.

Witty, hyperreal, and luxurious print designs are being used by fashion designers and in interiors, while artists are harnessing the technology in their work to stunning effect. This showcase of the best printed textiles from around the world is divided into three key areas: fashion, interiors, and art. In 2006, Slobodan Milosevic died in prison in the Hague during a four-year marathon trial for war crimes. John Laughland was one of the last Western journalists to meet with him. Laughland had followed the trial from its beginning and wrote extensively on it in the Guardian and the Spectator, challenging the legitimacy of the Yugoslav Tribunal and the hypocrisy of "international justice." In this short book, Laughland gives a full account of the trial---the longest trial in history---from the moment the indictment was issued at the height of NATO's attack on Yugoslavia to the day of Milosevic's mysterious death in custody. "International justice" is supposed to hold war criminals to account, but---as the trials of both Milosevic and Saddam Hussein show---the indictments are politically motivated and the judicial procedures are irredeemably corrupt. Laughland argues that international justice is an impossible dream and that such show trials are little more than propaganda exercises designed to distract attention from the war crimes committed by Western states.

299 792 458 m/s' is a magazine created in 2016 by Robert Kulisek and David Lieske in New York City. It's inaugural Issue "The American Issue" brings together a large variety of contemporary photographers, stylists, artists and designers with a focus on a transatlantic network that heavily influences the current fashion discourse. '299 792 458 m/s' was inspired by "Sibylle", the only fashion publication in existence during the former German democratic republic (1956 - 1989). As a meta-fashion-magazine, Sibylle operated with minimal access to western designer clothes, and opened up historical possibilities into uncharted territories of fashion-photography.
