The Ontology of Time
To understand the role of time within the scope of 20th century ontology, after the fundamental works of E. Husserl, M. Heidegger, P. Ricoeur, and E. Levinas, means to develop simultaneously the ontology of time. My aim is to demonstrate that in a definite sense the postmodern onto-logy is chrono-logy. The argument proceeds (and this constitutes its essential novelty) within the 'multidimensional space' involving not only the synchronic stratum of current conceptuality in its internal logical relationships, but also the diachronic axis of conceptual genesis. I apply different strategies of analysis in order to emphasize that the concept of the human Self, the concept of being, and the concept of time are inseparably linked with one another. To this triad I add one more link of a theological nature, viz. the relationship between God and the human mind as it has been developed in Orthodox apophatic theology and during the Scholastic controversies concerning the problem of visio Dei.

It attempts to be comprehensive rather than selective, listing primary and secondary works from the year of Derrida’s Master’s thesis in 1954 up until 1991, and is extensively annotated. It arranges under article type a huge number of works from scholars across numerous fields — reflecting the interdisciplinary and controversial nature of Deconstruction. The substantial introduction and annotations also make this bibliography, in part, a critical guide and as such will make a highly useful reference tool for those studying his philosophy.
Joshua and Judges in Yiddish Verse
Mit Band 5 präsentiert die Reihe Jiddistik: Edition & Forschung erstmals in einer kommentierten wissenschaftlichen Edition vier altjiddische Versepen aus dem sechzehnten Jahrhundert, die nur in historischen Einzelexemplaren erhalten sind. Diese Werke sind typisch für das einst populäre Genre der altjiddischen Bibelepik. Die Erzählungen greifen auf Stoffe der jüdischen Quellen zum Buch Josua und dem Buch der Richter zurück; sie adaptieren Stil- und Formelemente der mittelalterlichen deutschsprachigen Heldenliteratur und erweitern den biblischen Stoff um Passagen, welche die kulturellen Umstände ihrer Entstehung, vermutlich im deutschen und italienischen Sprachraum, widerspiegeln. Da diese Werke zu den frühesten Beispielen biblischer Versepen in jiddischer Sprache gehören, berührt deren Analyse auch die Ursprünge dieser Gattung und zeichnet ihren Weg von der Mündlichkeit zur Schriftlichkeit nach. Die kommentierte Edition präsentiert das Original im Älteren Jiddisch zusammen mit einer englischsprachigen Einführung.
Phenomenology and Intercultural Understanding
This book approaches the topic of intercultural understanding in philosophy from a phenomenological perspective. It provides a bridge between Western and Eastern philosophy through in-depth discussion of concepts and doctrines of phenomenology and ancient and contemporary Chinese philosophy. Phenomenological readings of Daoist and Buddhist philosophies are provided: the reader will find a study of theoretical and methodological issues and innovative readings of traditional Chinese and Indian philosophies from the phenomenological perspective. Antiquarian Literature in the Sixteenth Century
During the sixteenth century, antiquarian studies (the study of the material past, comprising modern archaeology, epigraphy, and numismatics) rose in Europe in parallel to the technical development of the printing press. Some humanists continued to prefer the manuscript form to disseminate their findings – as numerous fair copies of sylloges and treatises attest –, but slowly the printed medium grew in popularity, with its obvious advantages but also its many challenges. As antiquarian printed works appeared, the relationship between manuscript and printed sources also became less linear: printed copies of earlier works were annotated to serve as a means of research, and printed works could be copied by hand – partially or even completely. This book explores how antiquarian literature (collections of inscriptions, treatises, letters...) developed throughout the sixteenth century, both in manuscript and in print; how both media interacted with each other, and how these printed antiquarian works were received, as attested by the manuscript annotations left by their early modern owners and readers.

The argument is made by a surrounding frame (the Preface and the Afterword) that encloses ten chapters. The chapters are divided into two parts: the phenomenological theory and practical criticism.
