Re-imagining African Christologies
"Who do you say that I am" (Mark 8:29) is the question of Christology. By asking this question, Jesus invites his followers to interpret him from within their own contexts-history, experience, and social location. Therefore, all responses to Jesus's invitation are contextual. But for too long, many theologians particularly in the West have continued to see Christology as a universal endeavor that is devoid of any contextual influences. This understanding of Christology undermines Jesus's expectations from us to imagine and appropriate him from within our own contexts. In Re-imagining African Christologies, Victor I. Ezigbo presents a constructive exposition of the unique ways that many African theologians and lay Christians from various church denominations have interpreted and appropriated Jesus Christ in their own contexts. He also articulates the constructive contributions that these African Christologies can make to the development of Christological discourse in non-African Christian communities.
The Uganda Martyrs and the Need for Appropriate Role Models in Adolescents' Moral Formation
Uganda, like elsewhere in the world, is experiencing a moral decline. Many in Uganda are concerned that this necessitates acquainting the nation's young people with appropriate Christian role models, beginning with an understanding of God, Jesus Christ, and the Saints, particularly the Ugandan martyrs. The book's author envisages no substantial moral renewal if Ugandan adults themselves do not provide a good moral example and create a favorable moral environment. Otherwise, Ugandan young people will be building "a personal identity through trial and error, without any goalpost in sight" and thus perpetuating a state of moral decline. Sino-Christian Theology

Towards a Catholic theology in the African context

Overcoming the Osu Caste System among the Afro-Igbo
It is the conviction of Sacramentum Caritatis as well as the fathers of the Second Vatican Council that active participation at Eucharistic celebration cannot be easily disassociated from active involvement in the Church's mission in the world. This present study in the light of the foregoing presuppositions, exposes some of such challenges confronting the Afro-Igbo Christian, with special focus on the menace of the osu caste system, and proposes ways towards its eradication. One of such ways remains strengthening the Eucharistic celebration through the process of the inculturation.
Being a Christian in Igbo Land

The Church-as-family and Ethnocentrism in Sub-Saharan Africa
Ethnocentrism is one of the greatest obstacles to peace on the African continent. Taking the Church as Family of God as a model of evangelization, this work explores means of inculturating the Gospel message in African cultures in order to transform them, make them blossom and enable Africans to live as authentic Christians in their cultures. It examines the values of African extended families and the prospects of interreligious dialogue as means through which the various religious bodies can effectively work together to overcome ethnocentrism and its evil effects and thus establish a wholesome African society where every human person is at home irrespective of family orientation or tribal background.
