FRAGMENTS OF LIFE
Fascinated by the beauty of nature, I am setting out on small expeditions of a special kind, curious and with all senses open. Walking slowly through layers of forest undergrowth, visiting ancient mother trees, the walks turns into small spiritual journeys. Nature offers answers to my questions, gives small insights, and feelings of connection, of being one with everything. Following beetles and dragonflies on their paths, zooming in on them, I never know what they will teach me. Because they do teach - I only have to become quiet and listen. DIONYSOS ́ ALTAR Die Illustratorin und Lyrikerin Ulla Conrad wanderte nach der Jugend im deutschen Nordfriesland ins dänische Kopenhagen aus. - Ihre untersuchenden Augen, ihre Neugierigkeit gegenüber der Umgebung, ob Natur oder Altstadt, hat sie mitgenommen. Sie besucht den Assistenz Friedhof, wo unter anderen H.C. Andersen begraben liegt, horcht auf unsichtbare Schritte auf dem Kopfsteinpflaster, und visualisiert schwebende Engel in der bläulichen Kuppel der Marmorkirche. Fasziniert besonders vom Botanischen Garten in den alten Wallanlagen im Zentrum, lässt sie sich von den Düften der exotischen Seerosen benebeln, und in den Bann der griechischen und römischen Gestalten und Skulpture...
Den blå Hamlet
Politiinspektør Ørum har lovet at tage med familien i sommerhus, og håber derfor på en hurtig opklaring af et bestialsk rovmord i Brede. Sekretæren Nina griber chancen for at lave efterforskningsarbejde, da hun er alene på kontoret, og konen til en forsvunden kunstner ringer og melder ham savnet. Drejer det sig om endnu et mord? Umiddelbart har sagerne ikke noget med hinanden at gøre, men Nina er overbevist om, at der må være en forbindelse, da hun noterer sig, at de involverede i begge sager, stammer fra Nykøbing Falster. Læseren føres overbevisende tilbage i tiden, og den penible mordgåde i Den blå Hamlet udfolder sig på en baggrund af slut-50’ernes samfundsmæssige udfordringer.
Victorian Surfaces in Nineteenth-Century Literature and Culture
This volume explores the politics and poetics of Victorian surfaces in their manifold manifestations. In so doing, it examines various cultural products ‘as they are’ and highlights the art of surface composition in the Victorian era as well as the socio-cultural ramifications of the preoccupation with the exterior. By closely reading the various surfaces materialising in Victorian literature and culture, the individual contributions explore the dialectics of surface and depth in Victorian (and Neo-Victorian) cultures as well as the legibility of surfaces. They look into the surfaces of literary narratives, paintings, and film but also into natural surfaces such as skin or bark. Each chapter foregrounds what is present rather than absent in a text, while also paying attention to the surfaces that become manifest on the diegetic level of the text, be they cloth, landscapes, or human bodies or faces. This is an open access book.
