This study explores Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in government. Based on an interdisciplinary literature review and multiple-case study design, a model of Citizen Relationship Management (CiRM) is developed and discussed. The case studies explore the perceptions of CRM/CiRM by administrators, elected officials and consultants as well as its implementation and impact on the municipal level and in a multijurisdictional environment in the United States. Although the explorative part of the study focuses broadly on a theoretical conceptualization of CiRM, the immediate empirical referent of research are the 311 initiatives in the City of Baltimore, the City of Chicago, the City of New York and Miami-Dade County. Thus, the results help administrators and researchers to convey the idea and challenges of 311 well. The study shows that CRM is to a certain extent only partly able to make novel contributions to currently active reform movements in government. In addition, the study's findings support the idea that CiRM provides the means to a different kind of public participation.

This timely book presents strategies for mitigation of the greenhouse effect. It provides practical counter measures to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. Key substitute technologies discussed include energy efficiency and conservation, biomass, and nuclear energy. These technologies are both mature and can be applied on a large scale. Important concepts can apply to other technologies as well. Technologies for a Greenhouse-Constrained Society will help scientists and engineers identify the technological and policy actions needed to counteract the greenhouse effect. Solutions are aimed at both developed and developing countries. Technologies for a Greenhouse-Constrained Society will appeal to environmental engineers and scientists, meteorologists, social scientists, geologists, educators, fuel engineers, energy engineers, economists, and others interested in this field.

FOOD CHEMISTRY

This enlightening guide explores the chemical intricacies of what we eat. It unravels the basic chemical substances that constitute our food, and the methods through which these can be analyzed, providing a comprehensive understanding of what we consume. The book delves into how food supports our well-being, focusing on the essential nutrients required for our biochemical processes. It also brings to light the darker side of our food supply - the adulteration and contamination prevalent in modern foodstuffs, often for commercial gains. These contaminants, ranging from artificial flavors in soft drinks to hidden harmful substances, can adversely affect our health, turning our nourishment into slow-acting poisons. With a mission to educate and create awareness, "Nourishing Wisdom" is more than just a book; it's a call to action. It guides readers through understanding healthy dietary patterns, identifying contaminants in food, and choosing nourishment that truly benefits the body and soul. This book is an essential read for anyone looking to make informed, healthy choices in an increasingly complex food landscape.
