Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation: New Perceptions

The book comprehensively discusses Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH), exploring whether it is a recent phenomenon or a newly recognized issue. It details developmental defects of enamel and the clinical characteristics of hypomineralised enamel. The book addresses the challenges of using scoring systems for MIH assessment and emphasizes the importance of comprehensive patient evaluation, including oral clinical records and behavior assessment. The impact of MIH on quality of life is discussed, alongside the post-eruptive breakdown of demarcated opacities. The prevalence and distribution of MIH and deciduous tooth hypomineralisation are covered, along with systemic and environmental risk...

Dental Caries

Dental Caries is a major new work on a subject of vital concern to all dentists. It builds on the work of two former books, Textbook of Clinical Cariology and Fluoride in Dentistry, to present a definitive resource on caries prevention and treatment. The management of dental caries is central to daily work in dental offices because caries is ubiquitous in all populations, lesion development continues lifelong and caries is the most common cause of tooth loss around the world. The book's logical structure consists of four parts, covering: The Disease; Diagnosis; Prevention, Non-Operative and Operative Treatment and Prognosis. It provides a clear understanding of the disease process, be it at an individual or population level. The Editors are joined by 28 expert authors who have contributed a wealth of chapters, ranging from the role of fluorides to restoring the tooth. Careful balance between prophylaxis and surgical intervention guides the reader through the maze of treatment decisions, while the breadth of the book reflects diverse, and sometimes controversial, opinion on dental caries.

Erosive Tooth Wear

Erosive tooth wear is a multifactorial condition of growing concern to the clinician and the subject of extensive research. Since the publication of the first edition of the book with the title Dental Erosion, new knowledge for a better understanding of this important subject has been gathered. The new and more detailed insights resulted in this second, extended publication. It presents a broad spectrum of views, from the molecular level to behavioural aspects, as well as trends in society. In particular, the issues concerning chemical and biological factors as well as dental erosion in children are covered more extensively in this second edition. The first chapters include topics such as the definition, diagnosis, interaction, epidemiology and histopathology of tooth wear. Further, the aetiology of dental erosion, including nutritional and patient-related factors, and dental erosion in children are discussed. This book is a valuable and indispensable guide to better oral health and is highly recommended to faculty members, researchers, dental students, practitioners and other dental professionals.
