Form and Functions in English Grammar
The monograph illustrates the language specific realization of plausibly universal principles of language structure. The study attempts to cover the most basic (regular) parts of English grammar as a whole consistently, within a single compatible framework, but at the same time to present empirically based arguments in favour of specific analyses. She utilizes as often as possible standard scientific argumentation leading to the most generally accepted and best supported analysis of the chosen phenomena. The study is intended for Czech academic audience and therefore it also contains several typologically relevant comparison of English and Czech structures.
Wh-Questions: A Case Study in Czech
In the empirical, descriptive sections of this monograph the author develops standard argumentation in favour of the structurally-based transformational nature of Wh-questions in English and Czech. She demonstrates how Wh-questions in Slavic languages first impacted the theoretical discussion and how their description challenged some earlier assumptions based on specifically English data. The study provides a historical survey of the analyses which reflect the development of the field. Individual chapters are devoted to comparing extraction domains, locality conditions, and constraints defined in terms of the structures proposed. The Wh-characteristics are compared with Focus/ Contrastive Topic re-orderings, which leads to an improved structural analysis, using the concept of a Split CP. In spite of the demonstrable progress of the research, many so far unexplained aspects of the Wh-phenomena will without doubt continue to provide an interesting source for future research on the structure of human language.

Noun Phrases in Czech
This book presents a generative analysis of Czech nominal phrases (with determiners and adjectives). It uses previous studies as well as original paradigms and corpus data. The study analyses the feature content of nouns and their agreements with pronominals, coordinates and quantifiers, arguing that nominal agreement is a superimposed dual system.

The series is a platform for contributions of all kinds to this rapidly developing field. General problems are studied from the perspective of individual languages, language families, language groups, or language samples. Conclusions are the result of a deepened study of empirical data. The Grammar of Copulas Across Languages
This volume presents a crosslinguistic survey of the current theoretical debates around copular constructions from a generative perspective. Following an introduction to the main questions surrounding the analysis and categorization of copulas, the chapters address a range of key topics including the existence of more than one copular form in certain languages, the factors determining the presence or absence of a copula, and the morphology of copular forms. The team of expert contributors present new theoretical proposals regarding the formal mechanisms behind the behaviour and patterns observed in copulas in a wide range of typologically diverse languages, including Czech, French, Korean, and languages from the Dene and Bantu families. Their findings have implications beyond the study of copulas and shed more light on issues such as agreement relations, the nature of grammatical categories, and nominal predicates in syntax and semantics.
