Esta obra contiene los resultados de una investigación realizada en el marco de la Maestría en Educación –Énfasis en Cognición– de la Universidad del Norte (Colombia) que permitió analizar, desde el enfoque de la lingüística sistémico-funcional y la lingüística textual, un tema poco explorado: las dificultades que enfrentan los docentes al escribir, las estrategias cognitivas y metacognitivas que utilizan y el tipo de textos que producen. Sin duda, los hallazgos permitirán profundizar los conocimientos acerca de una actividad clave, e imprescindible, en el mundo académico: escribir.
Pensar la escuela para construir sentido
¿Cómo es nuestra escuela, qué decimos de ella y de nuestra labor como educadores, cómo se generan las rupturas entre nuestro hacer y nuestro decir, qué ocurre cuando no comprometemos a transformar nuestras prácticas cotidianas y pedagógicas, cómo construimos nuestros textos y cómo valoramos los de nuestros estudiantes? Estas y otras cuestiones nutrieron de diversas maneras la reflexión de este libro. La respuesta giró, por una parte, en torno al lenguaje como constructor de escuela, para lo cual se reconoce que el saber y la acción social se hace inteligible en las múltiples expresiones comunicativas que aquí se definen como textos culturales; y por otra parte, en la articulación de la experiencia de la vida de los actores educativos en la construcción del sentido de la escuela lo cual impone penetrar vivencialmente la diversidad y multiplicidad de voces y textos que tejen y circulan por la vida social.

In Expressive Processing, Noah Wardrip-Fruin argues that understanding what goes on beneath the surface, the computational processes that make digital media function, is essential. Wardrip-Fruin looks at “expressive processing” by examining specific works of digital media ranging from the simulated therapist Eliza to the complex city-planning game SimCity. Digital media, he contends, offer particularly intelligible examples of things we need to understand about software in general; if we understand, for instance, the capabilities and histories of artificial intelligence techniques in the context of a computer game, we can use that understanding to judge the use of similar techniques in such higher-stakes social contexts as surveillance.
