William Parkinson
Biography of William Parkinson (1834-1905), 19th Century operatic tenor. Born the son of a Lancashire cotton mill worker, he was part of the Golden Age of Grand Opera in England and Europe. He migrated to Australia in 1885, becoming a leading 'professor of singing' with many of his students attaining high rank in the realms of opera.

The Archaeology of Tribal Societies
Anthropological archaeologists have long attempted to develop models that will let them better understand the evolution of human social organization. In our search to understand how chiefdoms and states evolve, and how those societies differ from egalitarian 'bands', we have neglected to develop models that will aid the understanding of the wide range of variability that exists between them.
