City Design, Planning & Policy Innovations
This publication summarizes the outcomes and lessons learned from the Fall 2017 course titled “Emergent Urbanism: Planning and Design Visions for the City of Hermosillo, Mexico” (ADV-9146). Taught by professors Diane Davis and Felipe Vera, this course asked a group of 12 students to design a set of projects that could lay the groundwork for a sustainable future for the city of Hermosillo—an emerging city located in northwest Mexico and the capital of the state of Sonora. Part of a larger initiative funded by the Inter-American Development Bank and the North-American Development Bank in partnership with Harvard University, ideas developed for this class were the product of collaboration between faculty and students at the Graduate School of Design, the Kennedy School’s Center for International Development and the T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
International Perspectives on Chicana/o Studies
This volume examines how the field of Chicana/o studies has developed to become an area of interest to scholars far beyond the United States and Spain. For this reason, the volume includes contributions by a range of international scholars and takes the concept of place as a unifying paradigm. As a way of overcoming borders that are both physical and metaphorical, it seeks to reflect the diversity and range of current scholarship in Chicana/o studies while simultaneously highlighting the diverse and constantly evolving nature of Chicana/o identities and cultures. Various critical and theoretical approaches are evident, from eco-criticism and autoethnography in the first section, to the role of fiction and visual art in exposing injustice in section two, to the discussion of transnational and transcultural exchange with reference to issues as diverse as the teaching of Chicana/o studies in Russia and the relevance of Anzaldúa’s writings to post 9/11 U.S. society.

Investigación en formación de profesores de ciencias experimentales en Colombia: 25 años de aportes
Con ocasión de la conmemoración de los 25 años de fundación del Grupo de Investigación Interinstitucional Representaciones y Conceptos Científicos (IREC), en este libro se retoman las elaboraciones conceptuales y metodológicas fundantes de este programa de investigación. En ese sentido, se presentan sus antecedentes, orígenes y su creación para la configuración de comunidades académicas y científicas, y así prestar atención a los principios epistemológicos y la tradición investigativa en torno a la aproximación constructivista de la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de las ciencias, como también a la didáctica de las ciencias de la naturaleza como una disciplina autónoma. Con esto, se discurre en torno a las perspectivas teóricas de líneas de investigación prioritarias para el grupo, a saber: la formación inicial y continua de profesores de ciencias, las relaciones entre historia, epistemología y didáctica de las ciencias, la transposición, entre otros campos de estudio.
