Dormandy refutes the method based on singular readings and so investigates all the ways in which each pandect differs from the initial text, both changes introduced by its own scribe and by the scribes of earlier manuscripts. Marcion änderte - anders als ihm vorgeworfen wurde - nichts am Laodicenerbrief der vorkanonischen 10-Briefe-Sammlung. Vielmehr entstand der neutestamentliche Epheserbrief durch eine redaktionelle Überarbeitung dieses Briefes im 2. Jahrhundert. Dies ist die zentrale Einsicht von Flemmings Studie zur Textgeschichte des Laodicener-/Epheserbriefes. Die Vorwürfe der Kirchenväter gegen Marcion werden zwar schon länger kritisch betrachtet, doch in diesem Buch wird erstmals aufgezeigt, dass der Text des für Marcion bezeugten Laodicenerbriefes als prioritär zum Epheserbrief der 14-Briefe-Sammlung gelten kann. Auf dieser Basis wurde ein neues textgeschichtliches Modell entwickelt, das auch die Frage nach der Adresse des Epheserbriefes ergründet. Insgesamt wird deutlich: Weil Marcion nichts am Laodicenerbrief änderte, ändert sich der Blick auf die Textgeschichte des Epheserbriefes grundlegend.

Scribal Habits in Sixth-Century Greek Purple Codices
In Scribal Habits in Sixth-Century Greek Purple Codices, Elijah Hixson assesses the extent to which unique readings reveal the tendencies of the scribes who produced three luxury manuscripts of Matthew’s Gospel. The manuscripts, Codex Purpureus Petropolitanus (N 022), Codex Sinopensis (O 023) and Codex Rossanensis (Σ 042), were each copied in the sixth century from the same exemplar. Hixson compares the results of a modified singular readings method to the number of actual changes each scribe made. An edition of the lost exemplar and transcriptions of Matthew in each manuscript follow in the appendices. Of particular relevance to New Testament textual criticism is the observation that the singular readings method does not accurately reveal the habits of these three scribes.
